Your weight changes through the day and people usually weigh more at night. That is why you should do your "official" weigh-in at the same time of day.

it's possible. you usually weigh more at night, since you drank a lot and ate, and all that stuff is finally settling in, and i usually weigh with little clothes on if any, so yes, i have done that before. sometimes thats just the kick in the butt i need to see how good it feels to lose some weight. good luck

Weighing yourself first thing in the morning is usually the most accurate. I have weighed myself at night before going to bed and then in the morning and see usually about a 4lb difference so I don't pay attention to the other numbers just the first thing in the morning weights.

You can fluctuate for several pounds during the day and overnight. 4 is entirely possible, and more if you're nearing your period. Water retention is a biggie -- caused by sodium or related to the glycogen levels in your muscles, which fluctuate during the day to supply short-term energy -- and so is just half-digested food in your digestive tract.

So don't be surprised if you find 213 tomorrow morning.

If you're too feaked out, weigh yourself once a week or once a month, same time of the day, same level of clothing. If you do it daily, expect fluctuations -- and again, if you do it either in the morning first thing or in the evening last thing you'll get at least a little consistency.

I always fluctuate that much between night and morning. In fact, I've lost 9 pounds in the last 7 days. I'm the queen of water weight. It's crazy!

Best of luck with your goals!

    Yes, it is possible.

During the night we lose water by expiration (breathing out and emitting moisure) and transpiration (through the skin ie sweating.) In addition, we lose additional water (and other stuff!) by going to the toilet.

Water weighs a suprising amount. 1 litre weighs about 1 kg. The average person's weight fluctuates by about 2 - 5 lbs per day given hydration levels.
  • Thanks everyone that makes a lot of sense! Plus i wasn't sure when was the best time to weigh yourself so now I will stick to mornings and see what i get tomorrow!! Have a great day!

Yes, thanks for stating it in so basic terms. Or to put it in other words, you drink 1 cup of water, you're up approximately half a pound. Instantly. Of course, it'll come out through sweat and breath and urine ... eventually.
