Age, amount of weight lost versus time, genetics.... They all play a role, but one of the few things you can control is hydration, which is quite important for skin elasticity. Any good hydrating cream will work, you don't need to invest a lot of money.0

I think age helps, after middle-age, some women complain of lose skin around elbows/face/neck, but that is partly because the elasticity is less and sometimes genetics. One friend of mine felt that putting on a few pounds helped her face look less gaunt but sometimes you can't help where the weight goes first. It's still healthier not to carry the weight though.0

Unfortunately I think the loose skin is something you're going to have to deal with. I've lost around the 130lbs mark upto now, plus I have more to lose and I already have loose skin pretty much everywhere.
Surgery probably is the only option to make a significant change to it, then again, not everyone has as much weight to lose as me!0 -

You're down to 80 pounds?!I lost 75lbs in 7 months & dont have loose skin. Actually I'm now down to 80lbs & still don't. But I use bio oil to help & coconut oil from the inside0

I had this question, too, so I did some research. During my first pregnancy, I gained 75 lbs., which tipped over the 200-lb. mark. I actually weighed more than my husband. After giving birth, I was stuck at 150 lbs. for a while, at a size 12-14. I did manage to get down to 135 lbs. before getting pregnant again. I didn't gain as much during that pregnancy, mainly because I had gestational diabetes and couldn't just eat what I wanted all the time. After giving birth, I went down to 145 and was stuck there for a while. I've been working out since mid-November to lose weight and am down to 132 lbs. Still have a little ways to go, but I'm in smaller pants and feeling much better, more motivated. I'm starting to look great IN clothes again, but my stomach is--well--gross. It sags. And wiggles.
I wondered if it would ever be tight t-shirt worthy again. I'm in my middle 30s and don't expect to every have a bikini stomach again, but I was hoping I could at least get rid of the sag. Anyway, anytime I do research for myself, I write it out to share with others. The first point was a tough one for me to swallow, for sure. To realize that what I'm looking at, for the most part, isn't loose skin at all. Good luck!0 -
I started at 308lbs and now at 229lbs. I already have lots of loose skin so dreading what it will look like when I am finished. Especially as I am only 23 so not exactly old. I am hoping over time it will firm up! Dont really want to be putting in all this effort to swap a fat body for a saggy one!0

I found this topic very interesting. I am someone who is dreading the loose skin. I am only 23 but I've been a big girl my entire life, and at my heaviest, I tipped the scales at 280lbs. I'm not the healthiest eater and my weight constantly fluctuates with me staying between a size 18 - 24. I see this taking a toll on my body and I am already beginning to see some sagging on my belly area. I want to try the Bio oil & coconut oil ideas. I'd really love to see this thread continue. It's good to hear from people with the same worries/fears as well as those on the opposite end of this battle. The best of wishes to you all0

I've been driving myself a little cuckoo about this since I started losing weight. I've done a lot of searching online and have found a few things that I'm going to try bc I've seen really good results and feedback from other people
1: derma rolling and using bio oil after rolling
2: lots of water
3: MSM capsules and cream
4: dry body brushing
5. strength training of course
I just want to take care of my skin as best I can throughout this whole thing. I refuse to just wait and see how it looks at the end.0 -
Hey.. Im 18 years old and im currently about 320 pounds...i irecently started doing simple half hour workouts each morning, im starting a work out plan which includes exercises used by boxers (as im trying to get into boxing and MMA training)... However i ha e no clue where to start with dieting and eating healthy....any advice??0

Since I'm 50 and want to lose 50 lbs I expect I'll probably wind up with loose skin, especially my upper arms which seem to gain weight disproportionately to the rest of my body.
If anyone is not sure what 'loose skin' is, Mike Meyers parodied it at the end of his Austin Powers movie series, by having "Fat *kitten*" loose weight--but not skin. Comic hyperbole, but not by much.0 -
I have lost almost 75 and have 30 to go. My skin gets saggy and wrinkly at times but then seems to bounce back. I am doing weights and cardio and losing slowly. Even after I get to my goal I will still be a bit chunky. I dont mind. Curvy chicks are hot as hell!!!0

i weighed over 300lbs..lost it slowly .. i dont know if drinking a lot of water, exercise and eating right did it but i dont have any loose skin yet .dont know if its genetics or i did something right0

I don't really have loose skin. What I have is empty sagging areas where the fat used to be. Doubt they will ever go away.0

Stretch marks don't go away. You can reduce the appearance, but they are always there.0

While loosing weight slowly will help in prevent extensive amounts of "sagging skin," it is not an absolute. You can and most likely will have some excess skin even if you lose 1 pound a week, likewise, if you lose 5 pounds a week, you will most likely have excess skin. What are more likely factors include: your diet, your age, how long you have been overweight, genetics, sex, and race.0
