I didn't see a picture.
Waxing hurts. Period. It doesn't hurt long though - it's quick and then it's over. From a woman's point of view, definitely get your back waxed. Your chest though? Unless you are just out of control furry, leave it alone. That's what I think anyway.
Enjoy your vacation!0 -

The only guys I know who wax their chests are fit gay guys, and they do it regularly, not for the beach. It's more for fashion and attracting the kind of guys they're into. Women as a general group, however, don't tend to prefer hairless (unlike the aforementioned twinks) so there's not much point in doing it to pick up girls.
Also, lots of people have bad reactions to waxing the first time - rashes, breakouts, ingrowns - so it's a bad idea to try it for try first time before something you want to look good for. I've seen a couple guys with gross backs on vacation because of waxing. So you should try it ahead of time first.
Waxing in itself does hurt, but I imagine it can't be as bad on relatively thick skin like your back as it is somewhere sensitive like the bikini area or underarms, which is all I have experience with.0 -
How about just manscape a bit?0

Don't shave! I never do! LOL :laugh:0

I thought you were talking about a beard.
Seriously, I can't advise on that, even if i did see a picture (which I didn't). That's totally personal preference.0 -

You're being very presumptuous thinking you know what ALL women like...0 -
From the pictures in your profile, I say leave your chest alone (I love hairy chests). Your back, otoh, is up to you. Hairy backs don't bother me unless it makes you look like you're wearing a sweater.0

Don't make the decision for anyone else but yourself. If you care, I don't think there'll be a consensus in what people find attractive.
In terms of aesthetics, I reckon a hairy back looks better than a stubbly, irritated or razor-rashed back.0 -
Weird dunno why picture didn't work, I'm not good with this. Ta I was just wondering hygienically to and wether it'll make me look worse (being that I sweet a lot)0

Sorry if anyone misunderstood. What I was trying to say there was that all women don't like it one way or the other (all women will have a different opinion.) Not that all women like hairy guys. Clearer?0 -

So, he should do whatever he wants because all women are different.... and you shouldn't try to generalize what women want. Right?0 -
Uh, yeah, that's exactly what I was trying to say in the first place.0

I personally prefer natural men, not shaven or waxed backs or chests (yes I realise face shaving isn't 'natural' either but am only commenting on men's body hair removal)
I think you should do it or not do it according to your own wishes OP - not what you think women want.
I also think there is no advantage hygienically to hair removal - it is just a fashion thing, not a health or hygiene thing.0 -
wax the back but unless you have a man sweater, Leave the chest hair alone. I love chest hair, a lot of people do.0

Personal choice. I prefer the waxed look myself, but that's just my opinion. Waxing will hurt…. hello, you're ripping out hair by it's roots. But it's a temporary pain that goes away quickly. And if you get waxed by a professional at a reputable and CLEAN salon…. it is perfectly hygienic and safe. If you have allergies of any kind or sensitive skin or if you have been on any acne meds, let your waxer know… so you can avoid any rashes or reactions. Also if your esthetician knows what they are doing… they will have tricks so it doesn't hurt as bad. If you choose to do it… Get it done at least 3-4 days before your beach day so your skin has time to "heal" and it won't be so red or sensitive.0

I as a woman... Actually really dislike hair on my man... Now having said that... nothing on earth will convince my husband to shave.... lol0
-
Oh sweet Jesus kill it with fire!
I kid I kid, personal choice man. Why don't you give it a try, experiment with a new look as see if you like it. You will never be able to appeal to everyone so you may as well just appeal to yourself and build that confidence.0 -

Some women like hair, some men don't. Your personal preference has nothing to do with being a woman and in my opinion it is inappropriate to give the OP even the impression that somehow being female predisposes you to dislike bodyhair.0 -
Get rid of the back hair. Leave the chest hair.0

WAX IT!!!!!0

Leave it, looks manyly and not like a teenager.0

My now husband used to shave his chest/belly...
He doesn't anymore..
He didn't care and only did it to please women his age as most his age seem to like that look...or he was encouraged to by them..I personally prefer my men to look like men not pre teen boys...but that's just me...
It really is a personal choice...if you want to go for it but remember it will be itchy as heck when it starts to grow back in...you could have sensitive skin prone to a reaction...0 -
I'll admit that I manscaped, and I am okay with the results. There is a happy medium. I don't want to look like a creature from the woods, but I also wouldn't aim for a pre puberty either. You are a guy, right!
The main reason I did it is that I teach a dance class and I like to wear those sweat wicking tops rather than getting all slick wet in class... they usually come fitted and if your hair is outta control, it affects how the material looks on you.
I went with... all back hair, gone... in case I bend over and the shirt pulls up you don't wanna peek-a-boo fur. Underarm hair, set beard trimmer to pretty short, but I leave the hair. If you lift your arms people can see you have man hair, but you don't have tufts creeping out.
For the front, it depends on how much you're covered and how long it is. Rather than shaving it off, I went with just trimming it shorter but not too short, the hair is still there, just not in curls and loops.
But I agree, go with what you like. Or what your significant other likes. My wife definitely hates the back hair and trims it for me.0 -
How did I know someone was going to make a gay comment? Typical...straight men manscape all the time.
I say do what you want. If I were going on vacation, I'd wax over shaving so I don't have to keep it shaved throughout the entire week (or however long you'll be there). I plan on getting a bikini wax before my vacation in October because if I don't shave daily, I'm going to have a serious stubble issue. No thanks. My husband keeps most of his chest and stomach shaved except for the happy trail because he thinks he has a weird chest hair pattern and it hardly grows anyway. He can go two weeks without shaving and it looks fine. He doesn't have back hair, though.
If you want to wax your back, go for it. If you are going to feel self conscious about a hairy chest, wax that too. The pain from waxing is temporary, so man up. I'd imagine the back will be less painful than the chest, but the pain won't be unbearable for either area.
There's nothing wrong with men having body hair, though. Yeah, most women probably prefer hairless backs (not all women, though), but for the love of god PLEASE don't shave/wax your armpits or legs. Men have hair on their bodies, and it's fine. This is just my opinion, but if I wanted to be with someone that has smoother, more hairless skin than I have, I'd be with a woman. I can't stand when men shave their pubic hair completely off, either. Am I attracted to 10-year-old boys? No, I am not, and I'd prefer the men I'm with not to look like one.0 -
Why not be different - leave your back alone and just wax your front!!0
-
The only guys I know who wax and shave backs chest etc are gay men I love a bit of man fuzz so my opinion is leave it alone0
