I've lost 41 and no one has noticed lol. But then I am big to start with!0

I had to lose nearly 30 for people to start noticing. This is why it is so important to do it for yourself. People WILL notice eventually, but if you feel the difference and are happy with your progress, that is all that matters. Congratulations by the way! Losing 18 pounds is a huge accomplishment!!!!0

The main thing is that you notice! If you are losing weight for others then it probably isn't the right reason and you will not stay on the healthy path. If you feel better about yourself then that is what people will notice. Stick with it!!!0

Well at least YOU know you've lost! Don't worry about what others see! Focus on being healthy for YOU. And congratulations on your loss!0

Keep going; the closer you get to your goal the more people will notice if you even lose 5lb.0

I've lost 36, and at 5'1 that's very noticeable. Only 2 people have said anything and that's only because they knew I was losing weight. I'm sure people just don't want to hurt your feelings just in case. Weight can be a touchy subject for some people.0

It not that no one notices. People are just so busy and mindless in there own being. People have been noticing my weight lost since I took it seriously in April. I mastered body recomp from January to April with NSV of any kind but was still slimming down a lot.0

It took about 25 lost for people to start noticing it on me.0 -
As above. Do it for yourself, anyone else caring is a bonus.0

Lose for yourself and no one else. The benefits will be forthcoming. Don't worry. Enjoy the journey.0

I've learned that some people will NEVER say anything for basically 2 reasons:
A) They don't know if it is appropriate to say anything.
They are jealous.
Just remind yourself that you are doing it for yourself; 18 lbs is amazing progress. Congrats!0 -
I think people notice but feel awkward bringing up weight, even when youve lost. Great job! Focus on losing for yourself!0
-
Who are you doing this for? Them or you?
If you are heavy to begin with, then no, no one will notice for a while because heavy is heavy..
I was 70 lbs overweight and no one noticed a single pound until I hit 35 lbs lost
Who cares? I was over the moon pleased with MYSELF and I could tell a difference. That's what matters!0 -
I know exactly how you feel and that's discouraging. I had to lose about 30 pounds and get quite slim before people began to notice - or at least verbalize it. And then too, I think there are people who may be jealous who won't comment no matter what. Still others pay so damn little attention to anyone but themselves that you might as well write them off.
Don't let their lack of notice concern you. You know you've lost weight and look good and that's all that really counts. And, your doctor will know and appreciate it.0 -
I find that people do notice, it's just sometimes they are afraid to say anything, either out of fear of insulting you (as if you'll reply, "are you saying I was fat before"), out of jealousy because they aren't able to do it, or fear of "messing up" your progress (heck no - all compliments are welcome!). I'll venture to guess that they noticed, but might not say something until you mention it. Maybe bring it up? They say that you notice a change in your body within the first 5 lbs, others notice a change after the first 15 lbs.0

I had the same thing this past weekend - I've lost 28lb and no-one said anything. Then I thought:
i) I feel SO much better - fitter/trimmer and more comfortable
ii) I am the only one who is really concerned about how big or small I am
iii) I carry my weight very evenly and people in the past, when I have dropped weight before, have commented that they never realised that I was as big as I was.
iv) some people do not like making personal comments about weight for fear that 'Have you lost weight?' or 'Gosh you look great - have you lost a few pounds' translates as 'Before you were huge!'
We are a sensitive lot! Do this for you - others will notice how much more active/trim or glamorous you look in good time.
Congratulations on your 18lb loss :flowerforyou:0 -
I've lost 22, and I felt frustrated that more people haven't noticed too. BUT what others have said is true - are you doing it for them, or for you? I went to the doctor on Friday and found out my triglycerides have dropped 50 points with my weight loss, changes in diet, and exercise - so whether others notice or not, GOOD changes are happening! 18 pounds is a great accomplishment!! Keep up the good work, and know that you're making positive changes for YOU!0

A lot depends on your starting weight, but most people's experience is that they don't get comments until they have lost about 30-40 lbs. I didn't start getting comments until about 40 lbs. were lost.0
-
They say it takes roughly 10 for you to notice, 20 for people you live with, 30 family/close friends and 40 for everyone else.
If you are feeling better about yourself and your body though that should be all the boost you need! Plus the faster they notice you lose weight the faster they would notice you gain a couple of pounds - no-one needs that kind of pressure! :laugh:0 -
I've lost nearly 50lbs and still some people seem not to have noticed. I think when they see us on a regular basis, it's more difficult to notice gradual changes. If I run into people I haven't seen in a while, they always seem to notice. . . but probably not until I had lost about 20-25lbs. If you're still in the same clothes, try wearing something new that fits you better. That's when the people I see daily started to comment on my weight loss.0

I've gone from 155 lbs to 133 lbs without anyone noticing. I don't mind - if they saw me naked, they could definitely tell a difference.
My husband and I were visiting his family over the weekend and quite a few people were talking about how great a family friend looked and how much weight she'd lost. She did look like she lost a good deal of weight. Someone asked her how she did it and she said, "I cut salt out of my diet. That's it!" I had to bite my tongue on that one. I told my husband about it later and he said, "So, did you school 'em?" Haha, he knows me so well! No one mentioned my weight loss, though. It's fine - I know I look good.0 -
First, you've got to keep in focus that losing weight is for you and to benefit your life. If you notice the change after the weight loss, that's the most important! As you get healthier, your whole attitude and mood will change along with it...and that's bound to be noticeable to others. Keep up the good work!0

I lost 30 pounds and no one really noticed then I bought some new proper fitting clothes and everyone noticed immediately like I lost it all over night.0
-
A friend of mine lost 90 pounds before I noticed. You are much more critical of yourself than anyone else, so just know you're doing this for yourself.0
-
Don't get discouraged, they will start to notice soon enough! People who see you everyday won't notice til probably after you lose 25lbs or more. Great job!!!0
-
I wouldn't worry too much. When people are all around you, they don't notice incremental changes. You do, because you're looking for them. People who don't see you often, will notice.
One day, someone who talks to you every day will suddenly realise that actually you've lost loads of weight. It happens to everyone.
I lost 23 lbs before the girl who sits next to me at work noticed. One day I was wearing a tight fitting dress and talking to someone on the other side of the room and she didn't realise it was me. The shock on her face was worth it!
My parents noticed within about 7lbs because I only see them every few weeks.0 -
I lost about 25 or 30 before a lot of people started commenting. Whether or not they noticed earlier, I don't know. At first it was cool to get the recognition even if it wasn't my motivation for starting, but now I'm down 40 every second person comments and it's getting a little old. Mostly annoying because they all ask how I do it, but they really don't want to know the truth or do the work themselves, so I've come up with a pretty reader's digest version answer. There are only a select few people who comment in an encouraging and truly interested way and they know the true story of my health and why I'm doing what I am.0
-
You are the only one that matters! I have lost 22lbs, I'm 5'3 so it is noticeable to me anyway lol! But Take pride in yourself. Oters might have noticed just not said anything.
Congratulations! Keep up the good work!0
