hello all,
has anyone else totally cut white bread out of their diet? i did, and the results have been amazing. i just eat 100% whole wheat now.
if i had a choice between a snickers bar or a plain white bagel with peanut butter, i would choose the bagel every time! white bread was my comfort food.

That just means you: A) Have insulin problems or Ate less overall.
Switching from white to any other kind of bread does nothing if the calories don't change. Just because you've lost weight doesn't mean it was attributed to a change in bread type.0 -
Good job, I guess. I only cut out white bread because I think it has no flavour haha0

That's cool that it works for ya. I hardly every ate white bread, but still got fat:grumble: Just lots of everything else
P.S. I still choose white bread over whole wheat, when I do need a sammich. It's my thang, lol!0 -
I haven't deliberately cut out all white bread and I don't eat much bread anyway - but I prefer whole meal and we buy whole meal bread for home and I ask for it if I am buying a sandwich somewhere.
It tastes better and I find it is more filling too - presumably due to extra fibre.
I've lost weight but I don't think it is due to the type of bread I mostly eat - I ate whole meal before trying to lose weight too0 -
i did, and the results have been amazing.
in for amazeballs0 -

Kind of? I don't really eat bread any more. But when I do it's either because I'm in a hurry and have no other options or because I'm being served it. In either case I don't discriminate.0

I still eat white bread but less of it and still lose weight.0

I cut white bread out 3-4 months ago and have not seen a difference it yet. I cut out sodas a year ago and lost nothing from that either. I am weaning myself off sugar in my morning coffee now, so we shall see if that helps.
The only thing that seems to be helping is eating a mostly fresh fruit, veggie, lean protein diet.0 -
I've cut out most white bread except for flour tortillas when we have them I have white ones. We don't have them often.0

This is funnier to me today than it was yesterday...pretty hard to believe, huh? :blushing:0 -
Bread wasnt a comfort food for me but I never thought of all rmthe cals adding up till I got MFP and literally added them up. I cut white out at first but every now and then I will have a whole grain or maybe a wheat wrap.
I cut sodas out completely...instead I drink lemon water if I need a little flavor......sometimes if I really really want it I will drink a little hawaiin punch sugar free but I try to dilute it.
Ive been eliminating as many wasted carbs / simple as possible...and instead try and make every cal count with more nutrient dense items.0 -

I was just going to say this lol. I love whites btw... The bread of course.0 -

Yep, I've cut the bread from my diet. Started by switching to whole wheat, then just stopped eating bread period. I feel better for it, the extra calories weren't helping me loose fat.0
-
Yes I have cut white out. And I'll never go back! (except for some cookies and cake occasionally  )
I prefer whole grain and whole wheat. My body feels better, I feel fuller, and I don't get hungry as quickly. Oh,the joys of whole grain!0 -
I eat white bread, wheat, rye depends on what I'm putting on it. Sorry PB&J goes on white or a potato roll for me, and unless the bagel is from NY give me the snickers any day.0
-
there is no evidence white bread is bad, I just don't like it hence ditched id go for the snickers0

Back when I low carbed I did. That was huge since I grew up eating white bread almost every day of my life.
Don't watch carbs anymore (though the majority of my diet consists of lower carb foods), but bread, white or otherwise, isn't something that I gravitate toward naturally anymore. I'll have some every once in awhile when I want, but I can go years without bread and not miss it.
Now cake, which is bread on crack, is another story...0 -
I use weight watchers white bread. 2 slices for the price of 1. I have greatly cut down on bread but wouldnt give it up. Every now and then a sandwich just hits the spot.
I love the multigrain and fancy grain breads but they are so high in calories.0 -
im serious. i cut out all white bread and lost weight.
Good for you.
But I eat white bread each day.
And lost weight.0 -
I cut out white years ago believing it was "bad" for me. Now I just like brown better.0
-
I prefer wheat bread for the taste, but I baked white bread yesterday from scratch and it is absolutely amazing! As long as you're only eating a couple of slices a day, it's quite easy to make bread fit into your macros. I personally see no real reason to cut out bread completely, but I just love bread...0

I would rather not eat bread than eat wheat bread. I have literally had a break down in the bread aisle in the past over wheat bread. Bread isn't the enemy. I just try to make it worth while. Avoid processed if possible. I'd rather have fresh baked bread that I could truly enjoy0

Now cake, which is bread on crack, ...
Only if it has chocolate on it and in it.0
