Disappointed tbh

Okay so I'm a bit disappointed. I've been working really hard and eating really well and feeling better. I also thought that I had been noticing changes in my body but this morning, I only lost 1.2 lbs (in about a week) and 1 inch (in about 3 weeks) and even gained inches in some places. I follow the Blogilates work out calendar and I've done it every day (except one day) this month so far and, like I said, I've been feeling great but the scale/tape measure isn't reflecting this. I really don't know what to do. Should I increase my cardio?

    1.2lb in a week? probably water weight. just continue to lower calories and/or do more cardio

    I'm not sure what you were expecting, but 1.2 lbs in a week is a respectable loss. This isn't going to happen overnight. It's a slow process...think about how long it took for your weight to creep up. It's going to take at least that long to take it off.

    OP, 1.2 lbs a week is excellent progress. Why do you think it is not?

    When you start or increase exercise, the muscles can retain water to aid in repairing themselves. Give it time; the increased inch generally should subside

    I'm pleased with my weight loss - I think I often expect too much and have to realise what is realistic.
    Was just a bit disappointed with my inches, seeing as me and the people around me 'saw' a difference over the past few weeks - is it possible that I look smaller/tighter without it being reflected in my measurements? Or is it just expecting results that's making me 'see' them haha

    As you know, muscle weighs more than fat. You may be building muscle. Don't be discouraged. Some weeks are just better than others. This is my first week using myfitnesspal, but I've done WW before. Some weeks I'd be so good, but the scale just didn't reflect all my hard wok.

    It is not that unusual for your calf and thigh measurements to increase slightly when you begin a new exercise program. If you continue to exercise and eat at a modest deficit, you will see all of your measurements come down, eventually.

    Weight loss, and measurement change is not linear.

    I'll echo what the others said, as well: a loss of 1.2 pounds over the course of a week is good progress.

    You lost one inch and a bit more than one pound? That's pretty much what's supposed to happen, isn't it?

    So far, I've lost almost 35 pounds, and not even 6 inches.

    It's not always going to match up. Some months you'll lose pounds, some months you'll lose inches (or fractions of inches). Some months you won't lose anything at all, but you'll notice that you're feeling stronger or more flexible or have greater endurance, or your blood pressure may be at a healthier number.

    There is a lot more happening in your body than mere shedding of fat. Look at the big picture whenever you start to feel frustrated.

    Ah...yes, it's definitely possible to have visible changes in your body that are not reflected by either the scale or the tape measure. I have a great deal more definition in my calves, thighs, shoulders and upper arms, but the tape measure hasn't had time to do much. It's blatantly visible on photos, though.

    I suggest having some trusted person take photos of you either in underwear or something close-fitting (sports bra and bike shorts, that sort of thing) from the front, side and back, with arms down and with arms flexed. Do this at least once or twice a month wearing the same thing, preferably in the same place during the same time of day. Keep as many things the same as possible. You might be shocked at how much your body is changing in ways that aren't reflected in the numbers.

    Do you do weight or resistance training of any kind? It may take some time to notice your results, personally I would say just because you're looking at yourself in the mirror everyday and would simply not look that different from one day to the next, but weight training can help you maintain muscle mass so that most of your loss is fat loss instead of fat AND muscle. You don't have to wait till goal weight to weight train, and if you use weights already, keep it up and hang in there! Read this:

    Oh, also your measurements are spot measurements, right? If people are noticing a difference you may not be measuring from where you've indeed lost weight. Heck someone told me oh it shows so much in your face! How would I measure that? :laugh:
