MARATHON TRAINING FOR THE OVER 60's

An online coach said that the over 60's should not train on consecutive days. I've ran/walked 4 marathons following the same training program that meant that I trained on at least 3 consecutive days with 2 rest days and 1 cross training day. Any 'fitnessPal' out there got any views on this? Fred

I know lots of 60+ runners who train on consecutive days. It depends on your fitness level, not your age. A 71 yr old runner who is very close to me has been running 2-3 marathons a year for the last 10 years using Hal Higdon training programs (first the intermediate, than the expert) with 5 runs (or is it 6?) a week. I am in my 40s and once used Hal Higdon's "senior" marathon training program (only 3 days of running a week) because I could not commit to more than 3 runs a week. Good luck!
