Car Crash

Recently I was in a car wreck (gotta love ice) and the car flipped over twice. My friend and I walked away remarkably unharmed. However, my kneck and knee are pretty banged up.

The position i find myself in is this; I cannot bend my knee or put too much weight on it and I can't turn my head. Does anyone know of a workout I could follow until I get back up to fighting fit? I don't want this to stop my weight loss.

Definitely upper body work to get your heart rate up or swimming.
  • Dumbbells or resistance bands for your shoulders, arms and back. Lift heavy with good form while listening to your healing body. I have done some pretty serious workouts despite a bad elbow OR more recently a lower back spasm!
Congratulations for taking the challenge head on and not using it as an excuse!

Google "seated exercises" and see what you can put together for a workout that works for you. Best wishes for your recovery.

My daughter was in a very serious crash some years ago resulting in some very serious injuries. She was allowed to do stretching exercises with resistance bands which helped immensely.

see a doctor and make sure you're ok. Then swimming? The warm water will help as well I think. Glad you're safe and sound and that your friend is as well. That sucks! That's I have a goal to never ever again live where I need a snow shovel or ice scraper. Don't have to shovel heat.

So glad you and your friend came out of it alive!! I'm sorry to hear about your injuries and unfortantly I have no advice on how to exercise with them; however, I'd ask a Doctor this question, for you could cause further injury if you don't have a Professional giving you some advice, etc...If you don't have insurance and can't consult a Doctor, my best advice to you would be to research all you can on these injuries and what exercises help. Be careful about swimming, it's a great exercise but I was in a car crash a few years ago and hurt my neck. The doctor said that if, like me, you never learned to swim properly, and hold your head out of the water instead of putting it in, it can strain your neck.

But if you swim properly it should be fine

My OH was in a car accident just over a year ago, he also skidded on ice and the rolled a couple of times. He ended up with serious injuries. He had a physio therapist who gave him resistance bands and lists of stretching exercises to do. There are different execises depending on your injury.

I would see if i could get a physio referral if i were you, just so you know that what your doing is actually helping and not harming your recovery.
  • Thank you for all the suggestions guys, I employed quite a few of them, especially the bands and shadow boxing.

Couldn't swim, cause I had the brace. I'm back to being able to do most of P90X again now.
