I love futball. Had four kids that played in college. Been trying to see as many games as possible. (Not a big Donovan fan.)

I watched the World Cup ever since I can remember anything, lol. In my home country (Germany) Fussball is the greatest Teamsport and of course I hope 1990 repeats. I am happy to see Klinsmann coaching the US-Team now, since he was my favorite player in Germany and it is nice to see, how the US Team gets better and better with every World Cup.

Yup. Cuz we Muricans be super tough with all the pads and helmets and 5 minutes of rest between every 20 seconds of actual play. Now, if you are going to play the pu$$y card, at least compare soccer to rugby or hockey. Oh wait, those aren't American either.

Played for 10 years and was actually a FIFA certified referee at age 13 (level 8, lowest level, officiated local u10 matches or was AR for local leagues while my dad was center - good money for a teenager!). Not dedicated or really talented enough to play particularly competitively, and don't have the attention span to follow pro leagues normally - but I watch the World Cup (and Women's WC, which I frankly think is better played) every four years. Quitting when I moved and also was an adult and needed to find a new league is part of what precipitated my weight gain at 19.

I always wondered, what they players are doing, when we have to watch this ton of commercial spots.

American Football is same as WWE.
Bunch of air headed, meat headed, brainless people jumping on each other.
The ones who does have some brain left in their heads, loses that little bit by getting knocked down.

THE ACTUAL PLAYING TIME OF THE GAME IS 1 HR, BUT IT LASTS MORE THAN 3.5 HRS.
OF COURSE WE ARE TOO STUPID TO RECOGNIZE THAT THEY ARE MAKING US WATCH COMMERCIALS.

    Exactly

Then why bother putting your 2 cents in.

Personally, I have been DVRing every game. Watch what I consider to be the important ones and fast forward through the less critical ones.

Wife knows that I am going to be preoccupied every four years until the Cup concludes. I keep a list of all the games on my coffee table and update it after every game.

I've been playing soccer for the last 35 years. I'll be 60 next month and I'm still playing on two teams. One in a very competitive league and one in a less competitive league.

I've slowed down and had to move to Goalkeeper about 20 years ago, but I'll be playing until I drop or I can't contribute to the team anymore.

I'm only excited because I bought 3 teams @ $5/team ... Now, the teams I'm excited for, let's just say only 1 has any kind of chance.

My blind pick teams (I would not have consciously chosen these teams...

Germany - My Obi-Wan Kenobi (my only hope)
Iran - They seem to have a good goalie...but that's about it.
Ghana - I have nothing nice to say about what I have seen from them so far.

I have Germany in my company sweepstakes too (as well as Costa Rica). Germany is not a bad pick, they are a decent team!! But you are pretty much on a loser with the other two lol

TBH I am not interested apart from that, I am English and our national team is an embarrasment.

Yanks always talk **** about football... lol, its the most entertaining, passionate sport in the world that everyone plays..

In England we call baseball = rounders
America football = A female version of rugby

Not a big soccer fan but slowly learning. I have found the World Cup very entertaining. Being realistic, I know it's an uphill battle for the US but I'll cheer them on. I'm also jumping on the Argentina bandwagon to win it all.

I agree Germany is my only chance...

Don't worry, my friend Jay who chose England says in their last game they are going to score 10 goals... he has blind faith, but I am surprised at how poorly England has played at the WC.

I'm not a big soccer/football fan at all, but I do read up on things before I get involved.

i love all sports but this is just nonsense. american football players hit harder than rugby players. its those pads that let you. you have to worry a lot less about hurting yourself and you can launch yourself like a missile. just like boxing... you can hit much harder and for a lot longer with gloves than without.

I love to watch football match. My favorite team is Argentina. All Argentinian players use Nike boot for playing football game.
