Does standing too long do this?

So I've had a standing job for about two months now.... In the morning and the start of work, I'm a bit slim. But after five or more hours of working, I come home to see my belly pooching out.... does this happen to anyone else? is this normal?

It's probably just you posture, your back is sore from a hard day's work and maybe you slouch without noticing0

If this is, in fact, a serious question...
It's normal.
#1 - I assume you eat something within those six hours so by the time you get home, your stomach is fuller than when you woke up.
#2 - Gravity. While you're laying down, your spine decompresses so you are actually taller and thus 'slimmer' in the morning or whenever you wake up. After a whole day of standing up, your spine compresses because gravity works.0 -
care to explain why?

i guess i should back up, and ask you a question first...
what is it you think this "pooch" is? weight gain? shifting fat? wheat belly?
now im going to follow that up with another question...
why are you not eating at work? are we talking full-time job here? like an 8hr stretch? are you fasting?0 -
or your stomach is trying to get your attention because it's hungry. You should probably eat a little something at least during your shifts.0

i don't eat at work b/c i work at a fast food joint (sonic) which has NO healthy options what-so-ever (besides tea). I drink water during work. I tried packing a lunch at the start, but we're always so busy that I never have time to eat .So thus, I don't eat. Before and after work is when I eat.

I honestly have no idea what this pooch is. I mean it's not like I'm saying "Oh yea I suddenly look like I'm pregnant or over 200 lbs". I just notice my belly sticks out (pooches out) more when I'm done with work. Never heard of wheat belly. I doubt I gained pounds during work since I'm constantly moving. it could be shifting fat? I just didn't know if that was a normal thing to happen when standing. I know when sitting for a while that happens.0 -
translation: nah, she just fat.or your stomach is trying to get your attention because it's hungry. You should probably eat a little something at least during your shifts.

Is this real life? :noway: :laugh:0

how long is your shift?
are you in the US? (sonic is a US franchise, right? i like their commercials)
your employer is required by law to allow you a certain amount of time for breaks.
make time to eat. you have to fuel your body.
looks like there are some lovely chicken sandwiches and wraps you could be eating.
keep in mind its not WHAT you eat so much as HOW MUCH.
edited to add: as for the "pooch", i have NO idea, but it cant be a big deal or even all that noticeable.0 -
Just the effects of gravity. You could probably avoid it if you made a conscious effort to suck in your abs all day, but aint nobody got time for that.0

if you have nothing to actually say what's the point of posting? Is this real life? :noway: :laugh:0 -
Happens to me over the course of the day whether I'm standing at the dishwasher/washer, sitting at the comp, or lying at the beach/pool all day.
I think it's a function of what bloaty foods I eat during the day.0 -
I agree with the other poster, its your posture after standing for so long. Your core is tired.
You should bring a little cooler to work so you can eat, though. Pack up the yummy foods / snacks you like. You have your lunch breaks and regular breaks, and they have microwaves there.
I can't go 8 hours without eating --- I would get UGLY
(I'd be throwing things at customers).
PS: Congrats on losing 26 lbs so far.

its happening to me right now. i ate some vegetable biryani and naan for lunch and i've been holding in a fart for like 3 hours.
maybe you just need to fart, OP.
go ahead and fart.0 -
Our Sonic does not serve wraps, and our chicken sandwiches contains only deep fried chicken. My Sonic sucks. We don't even have apple slices for the kids which we are SUPPOSED to have. Yes, I'm supposed to have a break. But I don't take it because, as I said, we're always busy. My Sonic basically needs everyone working to function. If one person leaves to go on break, everything just starts to fall apart. It's bad just taking five minutes to go to the bathroomhow long is your shift?

This. If you aren't getting two fifteen minute breaks and a half-hour for lunch during an eight hour shift, then your employer is breaking the law.0 -
lol Trust me, I'd know if that was it.Happens to me over the course of the day whether I'm standing at the dishwasher/washer, sitting at the comp, or lying at the beach/pool all day.

Your employer then needs to hire more help. This is extremely illegal.0 -
Seems like posture and gravity to me. Try to watch how you stand and walk. Pilates is good for improving posture.
Or it coud be wind, eating more beans could work :happy:0 -
care to explain at least why my question is so humorous or so ridiculous that you can't believe I'm asking it?

My mom said that if you have one stuck you need to lie on your left side or on your belly if your tummy hurts. Gravity=relief.0
