Does standing too long do this?

Is this real life? :noway:
Is your avi real life? Not really sure why everyone is being so rude about this post. It's a legitimate question posed to a forum of people who are supposed to be supportive and helpful. It's freaking MyFitnessPal.
As for your question, yeah I would say it's probably just gravity pushing your stomach out. Maybe even a little salt/fluid retention from the day affecting it as well.0 -
this seems to fall under the category of first world problems  and nothing to do on a Friday night:blushing:0

Welp, thanks to skullshank, I just got skinny again.0

How much water are you drinking? Where do you suppose that ends up?
I find that I tend to suck in my tummy when I'm standing up, but naturally, those muscles are stronger and fresher when I get up than they will be several hours into the day. I can certainly suck it in, when I notice that I'm starting to sag a little, but it's more of a conscious effort as the day goes on.
Gravity, too.0 -
how long is your shift?
are you in the US? (sonic is a US franchise, right? i like their commercials)
your employer is required by law to allow you a certain amount of time for breaks.
make time to eat. you have to fuel your body.
looks like there are some lovely chicken sandwiches and wraps you could be eating.
keep in mind its not WHAT you eat so much as HOW MUCH.
edited to add: as for the "pooch", i have NO idea, but it cant be a big deal or even all that noticeable.
Your employer then needs to hire more help. This is extremely illegal.0 -
Happens to me over the course of the day whether I'm standing at the dishwasher/washer, sitting at the comp, or lying at the beach/pool all day.
I think it's a function of what bloaty foods I eat during the day.
its happening to me right now. i ate some vegetable biryani and naan for lunch and i've been holding in a fart for like 3 hours.
maybe you just need to fart, OP.
go ahead and fart.

Nothing to do on a Friday night? Yet here you are trolling instead of being helpful...0 -
Dude, you got your answer. Multiple answers, in fact.0

Welp, thanks to skullshank, I just got skinny again.
im just here to help guize!
OP, your store is being poorly managed, and thats not your fault/problem. they need to hire more help.
they cant fire you for taking your LEGALLY OBLIGATED breaks...and if they do, well then you can sue and never have to work in that hellhole again.
if you dont want the deep fried chicken, cut the breading off....just eat half....idk. you will survive if you eat a chicken sandwich, fried or not.
your manager is getting away with what theyre doing because youre all too scared to pipe up.
stand up for youself.

Because, before posting this, I thought "Could this have to do with posture?" "Could this have to do with needing to work on more intense stomach exercises?" hhmmmm seems to have to do with fitness and exercise....
I'd understand you laughing if I had said "omg why am i so fat, all i eat are potatoes I don't understaaaaand" but, alas, not what i said.
Oh, and yea, because me asking a questioned I'm concerned about while waiting for nine o'clock for my fiance to get off work so we can head to a party TOTALLY means I have nothing to do on a Friday night. Totes.0 -

OP, I think its time to talk to a lawyer about your breaks, maybe get some extra compensation out of it. Don't let any employer take advantage of you, you should take your legally mandated breaks, or go work somewhere where you will get them.
As for your question, like others said, I think it's just a result of gravity.0 -

idk... maybe I'll try bringing lunch again... or maybe just pack a smoothie...
I know it's stupid... i'm afraid to speak up. I tried talking to my dad (who is an inspector, so it's his JOB to close places like this) about it and he said "oh just deal with it til you go back" ... so i've just been listening to him0 -

#1 dad award, am i right0 -
Wow - this thread did not answer your question at all.
My advice is look into Mountain pose for Yoga. It pulls the belly in and up. Also when the hip flexors are tight the lower back arches and creates a "pooch" Try standing in mountain pose for a few moments every hour and look at the difference between your normal stance.
My answers are;
Posture and water0 -
OP: I think I have this figured out; it is your spine. A lack of one provides for the 'pooch' and it further allows you to sound whiny and unable to stand up for a basic right. Your dad is awesome by the way, he is attempting to teach you how to fish. Of course he could go in and take care of the issue, but your 21, so grow up, walk in and tell the employer the issue. Simple. Heck, you may even be able to stand up straighter the next day.0

i should totally listen to your advice and follow your example of being a jerk
And no, my dad isn't "teaching" me anything other than to put up with it. Which is what I'm doing.0 -
My tummy is always flatter in the morning than at night, regardless of food or water or standing.
I think it's fairly standard.
Check to make sure your food/ drink isn't causing you an intolerance reaction.0 -

How's his posture? Seriously, this is "tough love"--your dad's advice sucks, and your expecting him to fix your situation is a sucky excuse for being an adult. That's what MY dad would tell me if I had that sucky employer. :flowerforyou:0 -

I know a lot of people on here are telling you what your employer is doing is illegal by not giving you a break but before you run off and get a lawyer, some states do not have laws regarding breaks. The state I live is one of them. Look up the law and be informed. http://www.dol.gov/whd/flsa/faq.htm0
