They got one more game to play but they can't overtake the other teams on points even if they win.

And on behalf of all Welesh and Scottish people: it's the England team, not Britain ;-)

They suck at that too, what in the hell do they teach over there? certainly don't seem to put any emphasis on world sports anymore

At least they were there. My team South Africa didn't even make it to the World Cup.

unfortunately, not good enough in many of these sports any more. not really a football fan myself, I'm more into Rugby and frequently get my heart broken by the teams (England and Scotland) I follow performances', particularly when they're abroad.

not as good as we used to be at all. makes me sad. I'm sure the football fans feel the same about our current performance in this world cup.

We have the best football teams in the world, unfortunately half the players in those teams don't qualify as English for the England team, which is hilarious. Consequently the actual England team doesn't consist of most of the "best players" that are normally in the teams over here.

Disapointing world cup but the team is a transitional one at the moment. Fingers crossed for the future.

Reminds me of that great Scottish song by the Waterboys - Old England is Dying . Always next time around though and it's a young team. I wish we had had a reason to call out the Tartan Army...

    'ENGLAND FOOTBALL TEAM '

I thought theyre were back in because the ref for the last game was bribed?

or was that another internet hoax? :/
  • On a plus note, we won the Junior Rugby World Championship yesterday, which bodes really well for the Rugby World Cup next year, as a lot of these young lads will be making their way up through the ranks :)..........and as for NZ this morning, it was the first 10 minutes that effed us up...England played blindingly well in the 2nd half :).....I think the country as a whole is pretty deluded about how good the England footy squad actually is. Not enough is done to encourage and promote sports in schools.

Frankly, it's embarrassing. The last time they didn't make the final 16 was 1958 apparently. Let's face it, I might as well have played and I have only kicked a ball 3 times in the last 2 decades.

    If only that were true.

If Italy won last night's match and won their next game, we would have got through on goals. Sadly, it wasn't to be.
