17 Day Diet - Starting Soon

Looking for a few or more women to start the 17 Day Diet with me... just for encouragement, motivation, a little extra challenge. Want to start soon. I need to lose 30 pounds, so women looking to lose over 20 would be great!
Looking forward to hearing from you!

I don't know what the 17 Day Diet is. Does it involve steak and copious amounts of alcohol? If so, I'm in!

I don't know what this is either... but I am just getting back on the horse and looking for anything to kick-start the process.

I'm not a woman, but I'd recommend the ladies start at day 18 because I'm sure the first 17 are 100% nonsense.

    Why 17? Why not 10, or 15, or 20?

I am SO not doing a diet that lasts for such an odd number.

I had never heard of it. Looking at the sample menu for 7 days, it looks pretty darn good to me.

No matter what, it's always going to be calories in versus calories out. Hot lemon water potions are for get rich quick diet books and schemes and nothing else.

Honestly, I think you have a fear of prime numbers. 1,200 is a popular number. How about 1,200 days?

What happens on Day 18? You eat whatever you want and gain back all the weight you just lost?

17 Day Diet by Mike Moreno, a physician, espouses the theory that one must change what one is eating every 17 days to prevent "homeostasis." There is no science that backs this contention.

    From http://www.eatright.org/Media/content.aspx?id=6442464046#.U6iuWPldWSo:

"This is another diet that will add more confusion to the already confused, fat and malnourished country. Restrictive meal plans, no fruit after 2 p.m., demonizing food and the low calorie levels of this diet are a perfect combination for a good binge."

It's not as bad as some but is still just calorie restriction and exercise wrapped up in unnecessary hogwash.

When I decided to start losing weight, this is actually the first thing I tried. The book is still in my room somewhere. I stuck to it for about a week, and then ended up joining MFP and focusing on calorie-counting instead. I was a lot less grumpy afterwards*!

Edit: *after switching to calorie counting

wow - a simple yes would be great. I am not looking for random unsolicited comments - just to start a group. Having to scroll through babbling is annoying and doesn't accomplish anything.
For the record, I am an educated person. I am not into hype diets - this one actually gives healthy food options. I am not focusing on the promise of ___ pounds in ___ days. Just a healthy food plan to follow where I do not have to put too much thought into calorie counting.

    Thanks anyway.

If you want a healthy food plan, try clean eating magazine, gives you 14 days of meals, a grocery list, and the calorie break down. I cannot vouch for clean foods, but if you need a simple plan it doesn't get any easier then a cutout grocery list and a meal and snack planner, and it is free.

When you go to this link they have week1 and 2 a little down the page. Each magazine has a new 2 week plan; easy to incorporate and easy to follow. Have fun!

What are you going to do after the 17 days is over? You might drop some water weight but you won't lose any significant amount of fat.

Better plan, set your fitness pal to lose .5 to 1 lb per week and watch the weight slowly come off and stay off for life. Also throw in some heavy lifting. You can't "tone" a muscle, but the toned look is achieved by having a lower body fat % and having some muscle.

That's it. I'm writing a book. I could use the money.

My diet will be called "A kale chip a day keeps the fat away". I may market my own brand of special, organic kale that makes you fart rainbows.
