I LOVE sugar! But, it's not very healthy. So, how do I stop the cravings? Does anyone have any good alternatives, that don't involve artificial sweeteners?

I don't have a tip, but another member and I are helping each other go sugar-free. We are on Day 8 if you'd like to friend us for support. She had carb cravings the first few days, mine were the last couple days. Whatever you do, good luck!
  • I am the same way! Something I found that helped was Quaker rice cakes in caramel flavor! they are a nice little sweet snack, and only 50 calories. (Though not everybody likes them) They are so yummy! Hope this helps.

Yes. Stevia. I use KAL brand. Its not bitter at all ...good for coffee, kool-aid, smoothies, etc....as far as using it for baking or as a granulated sugar type sweetener its too concentrated.....I haven't tried the packet versions but they nearly all have fillers and many have a bitter aftertaste from what I've read. Stevia is a natural plant used in Japan for thousands of years. If you can go 2-3 days with no sugar--including if not especially from refined/processed foods and fruit, your sugar cravings will cease. Then slowly add Stevia into your drinks.....that should help.
  • Thanks, everyone, for your great tips!!! I'm going to try and get off the sugar drug... not looking forward to the withdrawals. ;-)
  • I just reviewed the book on Amazon -- I'm definitely going to get it!!! Thank you!

I started the Eat Clean diet a few months ago. It basically uses the foods the Earth provides (fruits, veggies, meat, whole grains). Funny how sugar isn't part of most of those! After being on the diet for a few weeks I FEEL SO AMAZING! I never considered myself addicted to sugar, but now that it's out of my diet I realize how many ways it was affecting me. It's tough at first, any change is, but after a while you won't miss it. I promise!!
