My weight loss story began in December of 2012 when my boyfriend surprised me by proposing at my winter concert (I am an elementary school music teacher). I was 220lbs and a US pant size 14 at the time. I am 5'5".

I managed to shed some weight on my own before I discovered MFP. I started walking 2 miles a day and cutting my portion sizes. In August of 2013, I joined MFP at 199 lbs.

Of course I initially set my goals too aggressive and was set on 1200 calories a day. I was starving! That's when I started reading a lot more in the forums and changed my calories to 1800. I lost weight steadily and without much hunger for a while on 1800.

As my weight dropped, my calories had to drop as well to keep the weight loss up. Once I hit the 160s, I kept my calories right around 1500-1600 until my wedding day.

I was 220lbs when I got engaged. I really wanted to be 135lbs by my wedding. I had 18 months to get there. On my wedding day, I was 134lbs and a US pant size 4!

I'm sitting at my desk at work and crying my eyes out ! Your story is one of the most inspirational and touching stories I have ever read on here. I am so extremely impressed by your weight loss and proud of you as if you were my own child! I have been on my journey for a few years with a bit of a break from 10/2013 to 4/2014 but back on the wagon and rolling hard. I started out at 293 and I currently weigh 226 and I am 5'5" tall. Looking at you, we are shaped very similar, I currently wear a size 14. I am 55 years old though and have had some difficulty losing due to health issues that are not important because they do not define me. So with that being said I see that I too can reach this type of goal and hopefully I will look 1/10th as beautiful as you do. Congrats on your new life, for both being a much healthier woman and as a new wife.
