Need some encouraging

I'm not an avid my fitness pal user but I've done pretty well without it losing 42lbs almost taking me under my 300lb mark but recently I've increased my weight training a lot and gained like 15lbs I know muscle weighs more than fat but is it normal to gain this much...I'm feeling really discouraged like all that hard work was for nothing....should I stop lifting so much in weight? I'm confused

First off, that is fantastic that you had the dedication to lost 42lbs! I'm certainly not an expert but you are right, muscle does weigh more than fat, so if you are building muscle you will notice a gain. And it certainly wasn't for nothing - the other thing muscle does is increase your metobolic rate so you will be burning calories while you sleep! I love my scale too, but the best thing to take into consideration is how your clothes are fitting.

I have noticed when I go to the gym alot I get really hungry. For a while while I was working out I was actually gaining weight becasue I'd come home like a hungry beast and eat everything in site! Now I'm more prepared after a workout and it doesn't happen anymore. So have a healthy meal ready to go. I don't count calories anymore but I meal plan like crazy.

    Good luck to you!!!
