Running/Gym Shoes

Hi

Could anyone from the UK recommend some running/gyms shoes, they would be mainly used for gym exercise.

Many thanks

Claire

Nope - not really - all of our feet and associated bio-mechanics are different - so what's good for me probably wont be for you.. Best advice I can give is go to a pukka running shop - they'll sort you out properly.

For running that depends on your gait, which you need to have analyzed. I spend a lot of time in the gym on top of road running, but I would never use running shoes to cross train.

As said by others, it depends on your gait. You should really have separate shoes for running and gym, although if you are only running on a treadmill then it wont matter so much.

Go to a specialist store to get gait analysis and make sure you are fitted correctly. This will help avoid injury.

If you're planning on using the shoes for running, then I'd recommend dedicating a pair of shoes to running, rather than using them for both running and gym sessions. the wear patterns from both are different and you'll end up reducing the life of the shoe. given that they've only got a life of between 300 and 500 miles then you want to maximise the amount of that lifetime used for running.

If they are for running then I'd support the opinions above, go to a proper running shop; Runners Need, Sweatshop or a local specialist to get a view of your gait and help in identifying the correct shoe. I think both RN and Sweatshop do a return policy, but check. If the shoes you buy aren't suitable then you want to be able to return them and try an alternative.
