Lost My "Weigh" Have You Lost your Way too?

Hello,
I have failed about 5 times to keep weight off. I thought this last time I was on my way to permanence as I kept it off for 2 years. I had a few injuries and the kicker was a torn disc in my back. In a nutshell I lost 80 lbs in 8 months, kept if off for 2 years, and now I have gained 50 lbs back and it's 5 years later.
When I was in great shape, I was deadlifting 150 lbs. with ease, boxing and sparring, and personal training other people. I had energy for life, but now I feel broken, battered and wounded. Mentally I want to go out there and kick a**, but I have to keep my back/disc in check, and I am in pain most days. No excuses....I didn't do what I needed, but rather used beer and wine as my painkiller and didn't train hard like I used to so the weight came back.
That being said, maybe you have lost your way and need to find your old, healthy self again. I know what I need to do, but it would be nice to talk to someone in the same boat. I can get through this, just need to be efficient, cautious, and eat clean. I'm sure this is God's way to tell me I need to find balance in my life.

I lost 80 pounds in about a year and a half. Kept it off for about a year. However after personal/emotional trauma I have put back on 25 pounds. It's a killer. I did it once before though I will do it again. My biggest mistake was walking away from my proper eating for so long. I thought I could just eat "healthy" and would be fine. I found myself binging a lot though and pounds just kept creeping back. No more! We We can We can both do this.0

Have you seen a doctor who specializes in pain management? IMO alcohol is not the best anesthetic, it is a depressant, and can make you feel worse in the long run. Eating clean is a great idea, and you can get great support on MFP. You can do this! Best wishes to you.0

Ice is my go to pain deterrent. Vicadin and those prescrips are worse than a glass of wine, but yeah, I don't need to endulge. Sometimes I try to disassociate the pain and pretend its from a tattoo or something
And thanks!! It's to get support!0 -

I feel your pain! I just wrote a post in introductions and I talked about my journey to losing 100 lbs. and then losing my way, and gaining it all back. I'm on my way back down again now but it is harder this time. I'm 37 lbs. down and have a ways to go. If you'd like to be friends here and cheer each other on, I'd love a new friend. I'm following Keto and it's working pretty well.
You are back on track... just keep going and you will reach all your goals. I have found that even if I do slip up, I dont let it run for days like I used to. I am right back on and that has made all the difference. I, like you, stopped doing what got the weight off to begin with. Never again! I aim to be strong again too
You got this!

Its hard when this happens. It has happened to the best of us. This will work.... Quit the booze and go back to eating the way you were when you lost the weight.0
