Leg pain, someone help!

So every now and then I get this pain in my leg, not very often, I think the last time was october, but I have it again now and it hurts like hell.
I've tried googling it, but can't seem to figure it out as it's hard to describe, but I don't believe it to be shin splints.
Basically my shin area has been throbbing since last night, I tried elevating it, but that just makes the pain worse. If I roll my ankle around, whether sitting or standing, sometimes I hit a spot where that pain just escalates. Same with if I'm laying and bed my leg into my thigh, the pain just swells.
Anyone ever have anything like this or know what it could be? The last time I had it it only lasted like a day and then kind of just went away.

Could be anything. You won't get a meaningful diagnosis from an internet forum.
Go see a doctor...0 -
Well I bet it's not the flu!0

I'd recommend heading in to see your doctor.0

Agreed, call your doc. Just curious - why do you doubt it's shin splints? From what little you said to describe it, that's what I would guess the problem is.0

Get someone to rub it better for you
Seriously see your doc0 -
Sounds like what I also am going through right now. Sciatic nerve impingement (disc problems) in my lower back. Chiropractic adjustment some times helps. Regular MD's will give you muscle relaxants and pain meds. Both Docs have told me the best thing to do if you have this condition is make sure you stretch out good (quads etc) and then walk, walk , and more walk through the pain in the beginning--but after a little while it gets better. Back extensions and abdominal crunches seem to help also.0

Go to a doctor and get xrayed/MRId. Sounks exactly like shin splints to me, at least when I had a bad case of them in high school.0 -

Im not a doctor but i'm and experienced and well educated on neurological and spinal problems and sciatica is caused by back problems and usually effects just the left leg and back .. It doesn't sound like it to me if its in th front of your lower leg only.
Hope you see a doc and get it sorted soon x0
