Ok I am looking for help! Im wanting to try the Slim4Life program but im not giving up my first, second or third born as payment for this program! UGH! Has anyone had success with this or can recommend something else? I work out and love to so that isnt the problem. Its the diet side for me. I have 3 kids and stay at home. My husband works in the oilfield so he is gone a bunch so I really only cook for the kids and myself. And they are typical kids.... spaghetti, chicken, etc! So i need a program that is truly do-able! My husband is losing weight quickly, like in most situations, and he is doing the Nutrisystem while away for work. I tried it and honestly cant do the sweets! HELP! Anyone willing to share the info on Slim4Life?

I'm trying to do it the "right way" but it hasnt been working. So I was looking for some advice on how to get more results. I love to go to the gym and for the most part (it's summer and we have been traveling so I've missed a few days here and there) I go Mon-Sat. Just looking for advice on meal plans/preps etc.0

My advice is to skip the expensive plans and prepare your own food. Even if your kids aren't on board, you can still cook for yourself. (btw, you are the one cooking and if they are hungry enough they will eat what you provide them. They may complain, but not getting everything you want is part of life. IMO),
When you get home from the grocery store, prep some meats. I marinate chicken and steak and freeze it in bags to be pulled out of the freezer later. I make enough meatballs for multiple dinners and freeze them in bags. I make a big batch of soup and freeze it in canning jars for quick lunches for work. Make a big salad that will last you a few days. You can totally do this, it just takes the will to do it and a little planning.0 -
One doesn't have to pay for a program to learn how to eat correctly. This site has substantial information and approaches that should fit what you do. It's ALWAYS going to be about CICO when it comes to weight loss/gain/maintenance.

Thanks! And I've meal prep'd a few times so I know I can do it. I'm just weird about left overs lol I've just got to get used to it!0

And I refuse to go out and pay for someone to tell me eat this, buy my supplements for $1000 etc. I know how to use the resources I have just wondered if anyone HAD paid for it and what did they think/do/ etc. I've got 5 kids.... so no extra $$ to pay Slim 4 life to tell me to watch my calories, eat clean and take supplements lol Just wondered what food plans worked for others0

Honestly, what worked for me was no longer restricting myself. I weigh my solids, measure liquids when I can. I account for every little bite, lick, nibble, I eat (holidays I do my best guesstimate). I found a sustainable deficit and an exercise I enjoy and the 9 months I spent losing weight were not only pleasant (still hard because we all want immediate results and those just either don't happen or leave disappointment in its wake) but I also learned moderation and enjoy ice cream every night to boot.
You definitely don't need to pay for anything to have success. Just takes some trial and error finding that individual deficit. Have you read?

this post and all the links within truly clarified things for me. Took out all the misconceptions about weight loss and health. Truly opened my eyes to it all. Wish you the best! :flowerforyou:0 -
Awesome!!! Thanks I will read that! And congrats on your awesome results!0

Maybe have a think about what you are cooking at home for the kids and think about how you can make it healthier for both you and them. So adding more vegetables, fruit, healthier snacks etc and just eating regular, good meals and then being active.
Perhaps just log everything you eat as per normal for a week and then have a look at it and see what you might be able to change easily. I'm a fan of making small, long terms changes rather than anything more full on that only gives you short term results.0
