Maintenance eating...

Do you eat when you are not hungry so you can stay on a schedule. For instance last night when I normally eat supper 5:00 PM, I was not hungry. I didn't feel like I needed anything to eat. But, when 8:00 PM rolled around I did need to eat. That is not ideal at all since it was so late and I was going to bed soon. Not to mention I was not eating with my family.
Some times in the mornings I am not hungry for breakfast at all. But when mid-morning rolls around I really am. Then that messes me up for lunch because I ate breakfast to close and again am not hungry. It seems like it is a cycle for me.

Do you just eat when your body tells you that your hungry... or do you eat on a schedule so you never get to hungry? What is the best for weight loss?

Meal timing doesn't affect weight loss. Some people eat at certain times due to medical reasons. Otherwise, it’s a personal preference. The main points to remember are meeting your macros (carbs, fat, protein) and not blowing your calorie deficiency for the day or week. There isn't any law that dictates that you need to eat just because the sun rises. Adjust your meal timing to work for your lifestyle.

Your title states maintenance eating but in your post you ask about the best method for weight loss - perhaps you could clarify?

In any case, the best method for either maintenance or weight loss in terms of meal timing is whichever method enables you to meet and stick to your calorie goal. This will be different for different people, with some adhering better when having 5 or 6 small meals, whereas others do better on 2 or 3 larger meals.

I eat late breakfast ...sometimes 10:30 even as late as 11. Then have my lunch when I'm hungry , dinner is a set time so I eat with my family . Then I have a late night night snack around 8-9 pm yogurt and nuts . I eat this every night hungry or not to meet my calorie goals. If I don't I notice the next day I have little energy . So to answer your question your timing is not really important just eating enough and not too much should be your focus !

I should add I'm in the process of switching to maintance been doing so for two weeks . I'm upping calls biweekly .
