Getting to my Goal.

Hey guys, so I'm a 21 year old male 5'11. I weigh 91kgs - 200 pounds. I want to lose weight. I'm wanting to know some decent workout plans with a sick diet plan that's going to help me lose that weight and get toned! Like how many carbs do i ate, what should my fat total be. I was thinking about getting the Josef Rakich 12 week transformation plan, but is it really a good idea? Anyway can anyone help me!?

My goal is 80kgs.

Hey Michael! It's great that you're looking for both diet and exercise, much easier when changing your life on both fronts.

There's a ton of things out there, I'm doing the Insanity program right now. Definitely intense but has had great results so far. Hopefully the second month can get me to the goal weight. :) I sent you a friend request too if you want to talk about the different routines I've tried over the years.

Is there any type of activity you'd prefer doing or a certain time frame you are shooting for?

Set your weight loss goal for 0.5 lbs per week. You don't have much to lose and you want to retain muscle while losing fat, so a modest deficit is best. You're going to want to get lots of protein (0.8g/lb of lean body mass), drink plenty of water, and hit your daily calorie goal. Weigh and measure all your food and liquids, and log accurately.

As for exercise, you should follow a plan you like. Many people around here use Stronglifts 5x5, it's a good beginner program. It's a progressive loading program with compound movements that will increase strength and will give you the muscle definition you're looking for, provided you've got your diet in check. And it's free, you can download the entire program online. Starting Strength is another popular program that is similar to Stronglifts.

These links are very helpful in getting your started and helping to figure out your daily calories and carbs/fat/protein intakes. The sexypants link has a ton of information.
