Morning workouts?

Do you eat first? I am sure this varies by individual, but I would like to try to get a morning workout routine established and wondered if most of you eat before or after your early morning workouts. I am not a morning person and tend to take some time, with food and coffee, before I fully wake up...Thanks in advance!

    It's totally personal preference. Some people feel weak and light headed if they don't eat before they workout in the morning, others feel bloated and sluggish if they do eat before they workout. You just have to find what works best for you. I'm in the latter group, I never eat before I workout or I'll have a terrible workout. I like to workout on an empty stomach.

    it is all about personal preference. i personally must MUST have a cup of coffee before a morning work out and allot myself 20 extra minutes before the work out to go do this.

    i eat before my morning run. i also wake up to give myself at least 90 minutes to eat a hearty breakfast and a few cups of coffee, then i hit the pavement and run about 9-10 miles. this requires me to wake up around 2-3am, which means early to bed. but, i like it. it works. i'm not a very social person, so there's never really anything that might keep me out later than i want to be in the evenings.

    Just coffee for me. I get stitches and cramps if I eat before running.
  • Thanks for the responses. I do think I need to allot the time to eat before. It is harder, when I am planning to do an early morning class, and that is really when I have trouble with this.

    I'm a morning person so I work-out in the morning. Because I have to be up by 5:00 am I do not eat before my work-out.

    Nope. I usually get nauseous and sluggish if I work out after eating.

    I eat something very light, like a yogurt, before my workout. But I have to, or I will pass out before I even tie my shoes. After my workout I eat a real breakfast, and then I'm good for awhile. I do think its about personal preference though.

    I don't eat first... usually do my walk then get back start the coffee and grab a shower. Then breakfast. Just do what works for you!!
