Seeing more muscle definition in my legs today!! :bigsmile:6 -
Put on an XL shirt today, first time in over 20 years i fit into an XL5

Just realized today that my shortest runs average 2 miles. I couldn't even run a full mile 3 months ago!6

Have learned the brass monkey and...

New PR for my mile and 2 miles, AND I got fitted for a bridesmaids dress and the lady told me I had a tiny waist! It was a nice moment.6

I ran a mile...not fast by any means. But I have started enjoying my walk/run and very much look forward to enjoying running3

I've only been at this for a week and a half, but this is a BIG NSV for me - I haven't had a single headache since I started (or at least very shortly after I started). I've had headaches for probably 90% of my life since I was in HS, just about every single day so I'm feeling really great and if nothing else, this alone should give me the motivation I need to keep on going!12

guy I'm seeing, as I walk by him in a t shirt and undies (ooh scandalous): "you have such a cute butt".
I used to be 262 lbs.14 -
I had kind of an interesting one (well, to me.) It's been very hot and I couldn't sleep, so I kind of said **** it and decided to finish like half a tub of ice cream as a midnight snack...and didn't. I ate a bit, enjoyed it, and then just had enough and put it away. I had the whole thing tracked, it fit in my calories and everything, but I didn't eat it anyway. (I would have effortlessly eaten it all a few months ago.)
I found that really, really encouraging - that I could be satisfied with moderation and it was neither in the midst of a super-motivated, yes-we-can, weight-loss-determination high, NOR this massive act of ascetic self-depriving discipline. It makes it seem genuinely possible that I could have a healthy relationship with food some day, without having to either track every single bite I eat for the rest of my life or immediately gaining weight straight back to unhealthy obesity, (with all love and respect to MFP, of course.)11 -
Actually thought i look half in shape these days was waiting in line at the store and a guy tried to recruit me to do security work cause "My type of body build tends to intimidate" I was like uhhhh....what? Guess all those days heavy lifting have done some good.6

I signed up for a six month gym membership today and a session with a personal trainer to get me started! So happy to be finally doing this!7

Welcome, you will feel better and enjoy things more if you work hard and stick to it =D Glad to have you!2 -
I was able to zip into a dress I wore 6 years ago that I haven't been able to for about 4 years now...it has the dang zipper on the side kind of thing. When I was able to get it up the whole way, I was SOOO happy. Unfortunately, having a kid and all that made my boobs not really able to fit (I look like I'm wearing a sport bra on top with how they are squeezed and flattened in!). But getting that zipper up...halle-freaking-lujah!5

SQUEEZED my butt into a size 16 yesterday. They were tight...but hey I was in em. 6 months ago I wore a tight 24!9

I was sore from a leg workout, and was saying "ou, ou." Another lady said to to another lady, "even saying 'ou,' she's so feminine."2

For three days last week I was out of my normal routine while visiting my sister on her farm. Did a fair amount of physical labor, but ate like a farmer along with it. When I got back I was really worried that I may just slide off the wagon again after a really good and dedicated month. Yesterday, I ate well and ran almost three miles. Good to know I can have a couple less than stellar days and not let it phase me.2
-
Today I went out and ran 7.64 miles in 1 hour and 21 minutes. Considering my usual runs are usually a hair over 5 miles in barely under an hour I'm counting that as progress!
(I only started running in the beginning of April. Was never a runner before, but I'm starting to wrap my head around the fact I may be a runner now!)8 -
The guy handing out samples at the grocery store told me those energy drinks are very popular with people who like to keep in shape such as myself. Spent the rest of my aisle cruising with my head a little higher!7
-
Trainer at the gym asked me what I was planning in doing next. I told him deadlifts and lat pull downs - he looked surprised and after talking my program through for 5 mins said I sounded like I knew what I was doing ????
Not sure I do quite yet but faking it is a step in the right direction!6 -
A while ago I bought a bra and it didn't fit, but it was in the sale so I didn't take it back. Now it fits!
I'm also wearing a size 16 top I haven't been able to wear for years. I don't think it's a "real" size 16, but it's more the fact that it fits and didn't used to!4 -
This was pretty good: I was at Sky Zone this morning (indoor trampoline park) and there were only a few people in there. I was on one of the trampolines and there were two employees (guys, mid-20s) there, and after a few minutes, one of them said, "Hey man, let me ask you a question -- how'd you get so cut?"
It's not a bad feeling when you're 49 and 25-year-old guys are asking how to get cut like you!5 -
I walked my first 5k today! Just around my neighborhood. Next stop color run!!5
-
My latest NSV is getting poor customer service at Torrid and asked by the clerk if I knew their sizes start at 12 (I currently wear a 12). Then EXCELLENT customer service in 3 other non plus stores.2

I was packing to move this weekend and uncovered a pair of pants at the bottom of a basket that has missed being sent to Goodwill. It turned out they were the size 24W pants that were the only pair that fit me when I was at my absolute largest a few years ago. I was about to toss them into the new Goodwill bag, when I held them up and decided that no, I need to keep these, just to remind me how far I've come.7

Working out with my trainer yesterday, she had me test out some new circuits she's been working on. I was unsure, but she said "I want to test them with you because you're really strong, so that will help me know if I need to modify them."
It felt so amazing to hear someone say that I am strong. I would not have called myself that, but then talking to my trainer I realized that since starting to train with her 6 months ago, I've gone from barely being able to use 3lb weights or hold a plank for 10 seconds, I now regularly use 20lb weights, and can hold a plank for over 1:30.
And I was able to do all of the new circuits completely, and well! I felt like such a badass after my workout! It was a nice reminder that even if the scale isn't always showing it, my body really is changing and responding well to my efforts.4 -
Ran 5+ miles on Saturday and didn't want to die on Sunday. And yesterday, I went through my not-yet clothes closet and moved a couple of pairs of trousers into the I-can-wear-them-to-school-this-year closet. :bigsmile:4
-
I've spent the weekend wearing an old pair of my husband's jeans, with a belt because they were too big for me. Granted, they were miles too big on him because he wasn't sent the size he ordered, but he *did* wear them several times, even though he's skinny as a rail.3

This is going to sound douchie but my biceps are making my sleeves real tight when I flex today.6
-
My most recent NSV is ... I was at Target the other day and saw that they had full-sized Krackel bars. Full-sized! They're my favorite chocolate bar and Hershey stopped making them about 7 years ago and only left them in the miniature line. They finally decided to bring them back.
So I bought 20 of them (just in case they're a limited time).
And I've only eaten 2.
Trust me when I say that is a HUGE victory.5 -
Several fitness NSV's from this last week:
1) 2 mile run in 13:42 (6:25 min/mi pace)
2) 7.6 mile run in 1:01:30 (8:06 min/mi pace)
*both of these were the fastest at their respective distances since starting losing weight
3) Continued to bump up my weights on SL5x5
- now up to 155lb squat, 155lb bench, 205lb dead lift, 105lb overhead press and 140lb row!
I've always been a runner (20 yrs of soccer) so while I'm proud of the first two, it's the weight lifting that impresses myself. I only started lifting "heavy" weights about a month ago.
Other NSV have been moving from 38x30 pants to 34x30 (and these are starting to feel loose), XL shirts to M shirts, self confidence to go shirtless on the beach...I've even gone shirtless once while running without worrying about my "moobs" flapping all over the place LOL3
