Hard to work out in the winter

I just joined My Fitness Pal and like the way I can track the foods I eat. Still having a hard time getting myself to workout, especially afterwork when I just want to go home and watch T.V. with the dog. I'm not a morning person at all, so that option would not work very well either. I get up 15-20 minutes before leaving for work. We have a small work out room at the office but getting my butt down there is so hard cuz I never know what time I'll be leaving. I know its a lot of excuses, but I've never worked out much in my life so this is a big change for me. Anyone else have a hard time during the winter months? I live in Minnesota.

work out at home after work. I bribe myself to watch certain tv programmes by having to use the stationery bike or the excercise ball while watching them. also get a wii or other game console to excercise with, they are fun and while they dont burn as many calories as going to the gym, they have the advantage that you can do it at home.

I live in Saskatchewan. right now, there's about 3 feet of snow on the ground, and it's averaging -30 C with windchill.

the things that helped me most were
    1) signing up for a class, that way I have to be there
    2) getting a gym buddy
    3) getting super cute workout clothes (so I want to show them off  )
    4) I got a gym with a daycare, so even if I have to bring out the kiddos, they still like going, it's like an outing for them.
    5) My husband and I are in an "ab off" a contest to see who can get the best abs by March 21st

I also got my husband on here, so that he would also change his lifestyle, and it worked. He's my gym buddy and partner in label reading at the grocery store now haha.

ETA: on days that I really don't feel like going to the gym, I do some cardio at home with a wii program I have (but you could use any workout video really, its just the wii program I have watches you through the camera and rates your posture and activity level, so it holds me more accountable:wink: )

I have learned to use the snow to my advantage. Shoveling snow is quite a workout! May not sound like much fun but if it's something that needs to be done, why not use it to your advantage. I burnt about 700 calories the other day shoveling snow for a total of an hour (spread through out the day). Other times I use my Wii, I have 3 different games I play to burn calories, or I use my treadmill. I don't go to the gym because I don't like people watching me while I workout so i make the best of it with what I have at home.
