Let's talk bourbon! I used to be a whiskey man, but lately I have really into trying different bourbons. I find them smoother then the whiskeys yet they are a bit stronger. Tell what ones you find enjoyable.

So far I have tryed:
Makers Mark
Buffalo Trace
Evan Williams
1782
Wild Turkey (101 and 81)

And the collection grows :-)

What others would you reccommend?

Maker's 46 - Just like Maker's Mark but much smoother.
Woodford Reserve - A great bourbon. One of my favorite to have on hand.
Mitcher's US*1 Small Batch. - Mmm, Great neat or on ice.
Bell Meade - Nice maple undertone in this one.

Check out this site. It a pretty neat reference to find new things to sip on in the evening.

Makers is my go to...not to cheap and not too expensive, good quality bourbon. If I have a little extra jingle in my jangle then:

    - Makers 46

    - Pappy Van Winkle

    - Woodford Reserve

    - Jefferson's

    - Knob Creek

    - Booker's

    Just to name a few.

    Booker's
    Bakers
    Basil Hayden
    Knob Creek

Listen to this man. Booker's can be tough to find (especially the 25th anniversary bottle). Basil Hayden is probably one of the safest buys - very smooth.

Oh, and I'll add Blanton's to the list.

I like Whiskey of all types, and what I'm drinking depends on my mood. My go-to bourbons Woodford Reserve, Knob Creek, and Maker's Mark.

I'm also a huge fan of Scotch and Japanese whiskey. My favorites are Lagavulin, Oban, and Hibiki.

I would love to talk bourbon, but don't have the time to go through what I keep at home right now.

I will say this: If you want an interesting [though expensive] bourbon experience, give Hudson Baby Bourbon a try. Small batch produced, and only available in 375mL bottles. Their process is pretty incredible. Besides being the first bourbon to be distilled in New York since prohibition, their batches are placed in small-format [3 gallon barrels--most bourbon is aged in 53 gallon barrels] American Oak barrels and left in a gigantic warehouse with a low frequency bass speaker. The vibrations from the bass actually integrates the bourbon with the wood and increases the 'aging' process considerably. So even though it is aged just three months [hence: Baby], it still picks up an incredible smokiness while still hinting vanilla and caramel. The bourbon is also 100% corn [to be bourbon, you have to be over 51% corn].

It's probably around $20 for a shot at whatever bar has the best whiskey/bourbon/scotch wall, but drink it neat or, at most, two drops of mineral water. Definitely not meant for rocks.

    Cheers.

An interesting one to try is Old Weller Antique 107. It's a "wheated" bourbon, and the flavor has a complexity and a nuttiness that I found surprising- especially considering the price. (It's under $30.)

    Booker's
    Bakers
    Basil Hayden
    Knob Creek

This. Exactly this, plus the Knob Creek Single Barrel 9 and the Eagle Rare 12 (and the 17!! oh boy). And sometimes, a Woodford Reserve Distiller's Select.

I love Bourbon. I _seriously_ love Bourbon.

I forgot about Blanton's...that was my Christmas present from my wife last year...it was excellent.

Go for the Maker's 46. Creamy caramel, oak, vanilla and lots of yum.

I used to be a whiskey man, but lately I have really into trying different bourbons. I find them smoother then the whiskeys yet they are a bit stronger.

I apologize in advance for the annoyingly pedantic sentence to follow, but I just gotta point it out: Technically, bourbon IS whiskey. It's a subset (so all bourbons are whiskey, but not all whiskey is bourbon).

Anyhoo, with that out of the way, I also highly recommend the bourbon trail. I'm working on my own "passport" myself. :drinker:

Great suggestions so far. Love Woodford Reserve, Jefferson's, and Buffalo Trace. Weller has been a recent happy discovery for me too. And it's tough to go wrong with the Jim Beam "small batch" labels (Baker's, Booker's, Basil, and Knob).

Heck, I'm not even above admitting a penchant for Benchmark--a super cheap "handle" brand that's actually made at the Buffalo Trace distillery. Tremendous bang-for-the-buck.

But when all is said and done, I find myself always coming back to good ol' Maker's Mark. It's the bourboniest of bourbons in my book.
