Does anyone ever feel like they can't stop obsessing?

Most days I feel like all I'm thinking about is losing weight. I either have trouble reaching 1200 calories or I end up eating wayyyyy too much that day, so I aim to get just above 1200 each day, but I feel like all I ever do is think about losing weight. Even when I'm at work or doing other things. I constantly plan out my future meals just so I know that I'll be at a healthy calorie intake, and I often have fear of going out to eat because I know it will lead to binging. For example, every time I see my boyfriend, we usually go out to get lunch and dinner and most places don't have any healthy options... I gives me anxiety.
Does anyone else have these obsessive tendencies?

I used to be that way.
It pretty much went away when I reached a point where I was comfortable with the way I looked. Now I barely think about it.0 -
I find it to be a phase that will go away once feeling 100% comfortable about your looks and progress that being made. One thing you can do when going out to eat to research some place that has healthy options but will be a new place for both of you to try. Its a normal feeling to have since you want to do everything possible not to mess up. Keep up the great job that your doing and am sure you will achieve your goal soon0

I usually do do quite a bit of research when I go to new restaurants. I always try to see if they have nutrition information on their websites and such. Thanks for your responses! I thought it might just be me and my obsessive personality! haha0

All the time. I wish I could give you advice, but I do the same thing. Although for me, I like the control of knowing exactly what I am eating for the day. The pre-planning everything gives me the control.0

It drives me insane when I go to a restaurant and have no idea how many calories is in the food I'm eating! So I definitely understand the whole control thing, because that's exactly my problem. haha0

ALL THE TIME. Unfortunately, I want to be a lower weight than my body naturally wants to be at. It honestly does take a lot of work to weigh what I want to weigh. Before I was on mfp, I worked out and tried to mostly eat healthy. I weighed 30 pounds more than I do now, which was just 4 pounds overweight according to BMI. However, I like to be at the low end of my healthy weight range. and that requires maintaining a lower calorie intake. I admit to obsessing about my weight and constantly worrying about what I eat, but honestly, maintaining the weight i want pretty much requires that kind of extreme vigilance. I still let myself have treats and let myself go over my calorie goal for special occasions, but it will always be something I have to constantly work at and think about.0

Yes! I am exactly the same way! My issue is though I get so obsessive about it and end up eating more than I plan on. It's so frustrating.0

The obsession is no joke. It is on my mind all the time. It is the only thing I have control over. I don't mind it, because I reap the benefits with consistency. Now, I will not eat an item at the restaurant if I don't know the nutritional information. That part drives me nuts.0

I'm trying to broaden my obsession from scale weight and appearance to getting as many of my vitamins and minerals as I can in and eating healthy foods that make me feel good and yes, let me continue to lose weight. It's helping.0

Same here. I have another ten-fifteen pounds to lose, but at this point, I look pretty damn good. I'm less concerned about staying in a deficit every single day and I'm more comfortable eating at maintenance many days out of the week. I reach my end goal when I get there. I'm not constantly thinking about it anymore. It also helps that I don't even lose half a pound most weeks. There isn't much to get excited about and look forward to; it is what it is at this point.
If you start to feel like you're truly obsessing where it's interfering with your life or preventing you from interacting with friends, it can't hurt to speak with a doctor about it, but I'm betting it fades as you get more and more used to your new lifestyle.0 -
Yes this is me right now, Ive been like this for about a year now since I started my journey last year in march, all I do is think about my weigh ins, how my workouts are improving, am I getting fitter and im getting stronger,..alot of it is because ive been at this for a very long time and now I just want to get this part done and over with so I can move on to just maintaining and toning. But I do find myself obsessing over it alot, when my boyfriend and I go out to eat, I have to be able to locate it on myfitness pal or ill be beating myself all day about it, but I do like to make sure I enjoy myself now and then, so I dont turn miserable about this whole journey. I found that since I started this whole journey, I am more critical of myself now then I was before, and my weight is all I think about, when is was never on my top priorities years ago. It will probably be like this until I reach my goal weight, but until then I will always be on a mission to..lose lose lose!0

My obsession gets so bad sometimes I don't eat enough, because I'm trying to save calories for later just in case. It's a struggle for me to get above 1000 cals a day without somehow ending up going wayyyy over my limit of 1250. I either eat too little or too much.0
