Weight Gain After New Strength Training Exercise??

I have been losing weight rather consistently and when I weigh every morning, my weight only fluctuates by 1 pound or so day by day except during that time of the month. I have been eating my recommended calories. However, this morning my scale says I gained 3 pounds in a day! Yesterday evening, I started a new strength training exercise regimen. Is it normal to gain weight after starting a new strength training routine? Has this happened to any of you? Why does this happen? And how do you not get discouraged? Thanks!

I was swimming about 5times a week for awhile and the scale was moving in a positive way. About a pound a week. I added the thirty day shred two weeks ago....I picked up four pounds. The more stiff and sore I got, the more weight I gained. I stuck to it and I am losing again.

Thank you all! It is good to know it is common and not something I am doing wrong. I will just be more patient and give it time.0
