People should just be naked on first dates.

Except for shoes. You never know when the rogue lego is lying in wait.

    That's true!!!

I wear shapewear with a fitted dress, but not 'Strangle-Spanx.' Just something to keep the girls and tushie from bouncing around too much. Not false advertising, just making yourself look less like a galumphing pudge-puppy and more like a tall well-bred mastiff.

That might be one of the best analogies I've ever read on this site. I love it!:drinker:
  • No way. Too hard to take off at the end of the date.

not if you're an EMT: trauma shears.

I wear spanx tank tops under anything remotely dressy. Dress clothes lay better, my boobs aren't flopping around every where. There's no false advertising there. They aren't wonder workers that make me look twenty lbs lighter. Women are shaped extremely different even when they are the same size and weight. Majority of clothing does not accommodate that. Spanx can help make a dress fit perfectly when it was just slightly off before.

Exactly--it's more about looking polished when the fabrics are clingy and unforgiving.
Not that I can be bothered to wrestle in and out of Spanx; it's not worth the misery and exhaustion. Having to get undressed to use the bathroom sucks! Control top is about as far as I'm willing to go.

High heels is false advertising? I'll leave them at home if the guy is anything less than 5'11", but I'm 5'9", there's nothing false about my height. Heels make me feel sexy and adds elegance to an otherwise blasé outfit.

Props to you if you want to wear flip-flops in your pencil skirt, though...

Im a thong girl through and through - but sometimes spanx are great for those super tight dresses. And besides they make your *kitten* look great too!
Im all for them when needed and not ashamed to!

You all make me laugh... ! Nothing is ever "one-size fits all"... and as you age sometimes firming under-garments are all we have to hold and keep things in place! Rude awakening world... trust me, even a size 0 needs a little help just holding things in place!

I would imagine that would get in the way of the undressing portion of the evening... I mean... I've tried wearing spanx before and it was like trying to stuff sausage... there can't possibly be anything sexy about having to take it off in front of someone?

There are always blindfolds I guess...

all of this is in the assumption, of course, that one does these sort of things on a first date...

Ha! I was thinking the same thing. Same reason I wouldn't wear control top panty hose.

I wear control top panty hose for work... anytime I wear a skirt or dress. I suppose it's habit, but it's how my mom taught me.

In fact, I have some on right now.

Straight up false advertising if you ask me.

Would you consider makeup false advertising too?
Yes, unless it's very minimal. False lashes, lip liner, brows drawn on, and so much foundation that it was applied with a trowel to cover up a bad complexion...anything to where you give one impression to attract someone then drastically alter your appearence by removing said items.

Mind, I'm talking about while dating, not everyday work and special occasions. Trowel and sausage away in that case.

So is makeup and high heels.

Personally, and I may be the odd man out here, I've never been a fan of makeup.

    It wouldn't suit you

Spank you on the first date? Only if you reciprocate.

Just don't have a Bridget Jones granny panty moment when you're getting it on.

If by shapewear you mean a corset worn on the OUTSIDE as the icing on the cake, then, no...no false advertising...just advertising something a little *different* than a woman in ugly form shaping underwear.

I did it once. It was horrifying to struggle to take it off in front of him. There was no way I was going to let him see me try to put it back on (my shirt didn't fit over my fat rolls, so I had to borrow a sweatshirt).

Happened to me once with a girdle. I wasn't even overweight, but back then I thought curves meant fat.

So awkward! And there is just nothing nice about the smell after a woman has been sweating in a girdle for 5 hours. Almost as bad as gym socks.

You think that's bad you should try an evening of dancing in a black rubber dress. The sweat runs down your legs.
