For clarity, the title of the post is a little misleading. OP asked
Should I be burning the same amount of cals as I consume? For ex if I eat 1500 cals a day should I also try to burn 1500 or more cals a day?
That isn't the same as eating exercise calories.

    For clarity your not helping!

I posted it the way I wanted to. So if you can't respond to it as is then you shouldn't respond at all. I'm asking for help not for negativity! Thanks to those who helped & understood the question. I get it now!!! Thanks again!!

There was no negativity here...she was just clarifying for the general population who might possibly be confused by the disconnect between your question and the title...I don't think the clarification was even meant for you.

I would also suggest reading the stickies that you said you'd read when you signed up...they are the instructions on how this tool works.

The way you posted it made it appear that you ate 1500 total calories then either did, or planned to, burn 1500 calories via exercise which is extremely unhealthy. The alternative interpretation was you plan to consume 1500 calories then burn 1500 calories through a combination of exercise and BMR. The ability to express one's thoughts via the written word is crucial here as the two interpretations vary so widely and have vastly different potential outcomes. By the way, what you were given was help and not negativity.

Thanks for your advice too but I don't need clarity! To make a point...I would have understood what was said without the "for clarity" part! And btw I said thanks for all the advice...meaning everyone who posted! What I think is negative is being corrected w/o asking anyone to do so...no one here can read my mine. I asked it how I want too! I put in a ex. so ppl would see what I mean...anyway good day ppl! Thanks anyway!!

You obviously do need to work on the clarity of your posts. Just look at the responses your title and first post received and how wildly the interpretations varied.

Thank you too...from now on I want ask for any advice!

    for clarity, it's "won't".

    Who cares? Now correct that!

That's up to you. If you choose not to ask for further advice it saves the community from trying to decipher what you really mean as compared to what you actually write especially when the thread title and wording of your opening post do not clearly align.

My goodness! I just recently rejoined mfp and thought this would be an interesting topic. The nasty comments that went back and forth have definitely helped me make the decision NOT to ask for any support on the board. For some of us, opening up and asking for help is difficult enough without having to worry about whether I will be attacked about the wording of my question.

Are you serious? Did you actually read the thread from the beginning to see how there was absolutely zero nastiness in the responses?

Someone cleared up some ambiguity to *help* OP.

    I'm sincerely speechless.
  • set your goals to lightly active and don't log exercise...........don't eat your calories back.................or use the calorie goal you want and don't log exercise calories or log it as 1 calorie............do not eat your calories back...........you really don't know how much you burn anyways...........and don't kill yourself at the gym........
Thats what i do! I do exercise I just don"t log it! Besides logging exrcise is a pain in the butt! I don"t care too much about net calories.

It seems to me that the correction was unwelcome and then the barrage of people defending the response created a backlash of can only be called TROLL POSTING from brianpperkins, as he tried to bring an argument to life...

If you found negativity in the responses in this thread, I'm afraid you're going to have issues with the responses you get outside of MFP too.

And I mean this sincerely and with no malice whatsoever.

Perhaps you could get a small group of like-minded friends and focus your MFP time on your wall and not the general forums? (I'm still not saying that the responders are the problem here...but nonetheless, perhaps this might be a solution for you?)

Maybe I was wrong thinking that it was being negative but that's how I felt...so I'll admit that!! And by reading the above post there are some neg ppl responding just b/c & not trying to be helpful but that's them. I really don't understand why ppl are still adding neg things that don't have anything to do with the topic. Some ppl can be so rude and mean at times. If you don't want to help me that's ok. I don't care!! But thanks to those who understood or kinda understood what I was asking. I'm sorry for being rude...I did get a little upset but hey I'm not perfect!! Hope you all can enjoy the rest of your day!! B/c I sure will!!

If you don't care, and you are not worried about anyone else, and people can be so rude and mean, why do you keep coming back to this thread?

Was your question not answered? Are you wishing for more information?

I only ask because if your question was already answered, and the other posts are not helping you or they are bothering you, it would seem to me that the simple solution is to take the good information and be done with the thread.
