Weight loss help

I have been going strong for about a month now and have had no results to speak of. I have not lost any weight nor have seen a decrease in waist size.

I do cardio (Ellipical or Bike ride) 5-6 time a week and keep my calorie intake in check. The only think i have noticed in the nutrition section is that i seem to be consistancy over on sodium. I am wondering if I might be retaining water weight.

I am not sure how to allow access to my share my food logging so other can take a look and advise.

At this point i am becoming discouraged, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can open your diary for us to look by going here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings

Towards the bottom of the page choose "Public" and then Save Changes.

What does keeping your calorie in check consist of?

Sodium can make you retain water, but over the course of time you'd still expect to see a loss.

    the usual culprits are:
    1. not wieghing food, eyeballing and using measuring cups can lead to alot of underestimating
    2. over estimating burns, how are you getting your numbers for that
    3. not logging every day, this includes any cheat meals/days, you still need to know waht you are eating or else you can not know what to expect

as mentioned above if you open your diary you will get more personal feedback

I was stuck for awhile, too. More water and interval training helped me. Give it a try? Good luck! And don't be discouraged. The numbers will change eventually, but I can guarantee they won't if you give up. So just keep going!!
  • I set my profile to public so anyone should be able to see it now.

I normally scan food items for adding to diary and as for tracking cardio i use the number that the elipical give me and for bike rides i have my profile synced eith Edmundo Pro which tracks my speed, road incline, and distance (GPS).

When you scan the items to add to your diary do you also double-check that the entry in the database matches the label on your food? Food companies will make changes to their product but keep the same UPC code, which can lead to inaccuracies if you're not double-checking.

Also, how are you measuring your portions? I see a lot of measuring cups/spoon measurements in your diary, which can also lead to inaccuracies if you're not careful.

If you're concerned about sodium, be more conscious when purchasing foods and checking labels. I always go for low-sodium or reduced sodium when I can. However, a lot of the time with reduced sodium they compensate by adding sugar to it. So be careful! I would avoid the kellogg's breakfast sandwiches all together, and buy a lower sodium soup etc.
