Eating out?

Hey guys,

I dont eat out often, but tonight I will be as celebration of passing my second year at Uni, and I'm a bit unsure about logging the meal i'll be having?

The restaurant we're going to does not provide nutritional info (I called and asked and the guy on the phone was no help!)

Anyway, I know what meals i'll most likely be having, so am curious about logging it!
Im not too bothered about one meal throwing me off my aims for the week, but I'd like to log for the sake of consistancy...

So if anyone has any kind of idea about what/how I should/can log that would be great!

I'll be having a Potato skins starter and probably a pasta carbonara for my main :)

Any help would be appreciated!

I'm not too sure about the pasta but Harvester do Potato Skins with bacon and cheese for around 465 calories. Maybe something similar to this? Which restaurant are you going to? Congrats on passing your 2nd year btw!

I would just look the meal up in the data base and log it as the average number you find there - eg spaghetti cabonara - 1 dish.
same for entrée, sweets etc if you have any.

sometimes you have to guestimate and if that's the best you can do in that situation, so be it.

Im going to a small local italian restaurant called 'La Torre'
The potato skins will be plain, with bbq sauce to dip! i haven't looked into mfp database yet for anything though!

Thank you too! It was a good year :)

It's one night. Pick something out of the database that closely resembles what you ate, log it, and forget it. Focus on enjoying your night and celebrating your achievement.

Not what was going through my mind when I wandered in here.

But it's only one night - have a inaccurate log for one night will not ruin any of your progress.

Just use a generic entry from the database- that closely resembles and move on.

Enjoy the celebration and congrats on completing year 2

    Congrats!
Like others said, enjoy your night and try to find something similar in the database, then forget it. I know the feeling though, you are doing so well with foods you know and eating out can feel like you are being thrown off but what helps is I remember this has to be a lifestyle change, you can't stay away from eating out for the rest of your life (that would be no fun)

I went out for dinner 2 weeks ago for my anniversary - a Japanese-French fusion 10 mini-course tasting... ya, there is NO way I could have logged that I have no clue what ingredients they used and it was impossible to remember after so I just did a quick add calories to guestimate (probably didn't come close but oh well), then moved on from it.

    Have a great time! :)
