Does anyone at your gym inspire you?

There are a lot of topics about all the annoying things people do in the gym...and I agree, there are many, and I've seen them all.
But I'm wondering if anyone at your gym inspires you, makes you want to push harder?
I think I'm somewhat easily inspired, but these are just some of the people at my gym who make me smile, or inspire me in some way. I don't know most of their names, but they make my life better nonetheless.
1. The young man who is now a paraplegic because he lost the use of his legs in Afghanistan, and yet he works his upper body like a beast. He always makes me remember; "Don't let what you can't do stand in the way of what you CAN do"
2. The guy who puts on his headphones, tunes out the whole world, lifts hard, and then plays air guitar, Wayne's World-style, during his rest periods...I love when people just enjoy life and don't care what anyone else thinks of them
3. My client's mother who has terminal brain cancer and is working out to try to improve her balance, and to keep her mind functioning as long as she can.
4. A friend of mine who works 2 jobs and goes to college. If she has time, I have time.
5. My 88-year old client, who just started lifting weights this year, and is getting stronger instead of weaker. It makes me feel like it's never too late to start something new
6. My high-school friend who needed to lose 100 lbs, and has shown up at the gym 5 days a week, at 4 a.m. for over 6 months...
7. Every single woman I see in the free-weight area...
I have many more--that's just a sample. So who is it for you??

Yeah. There is a woman at my gym that I see lifting weights and such. She works incredibly hard and I have a lot of admiration for that. Her squat form needs work though.0

I'm with number 7, every time I see a woman in the free weights section I give them a nod of encouragement.0

I don't go to a gym. My inspirations are most of the people on my friends list though.0

There is this one woman. I see her several times a week. She's has a lot of weight to lose, but she gets on the elliptical and goes for at least 45 minutes every time she comes in. She sweats hard and is red in the face, but man does she work her *kitten* off. And I have to say it makes me smile every single time I see her.0

This elderly man (who I affectionately call my boyfriend), works out everyday on the same treadmill.0

You have to use the same treadmill or it doesn't work ;p I have my favorite machines too...I'm like Goldilocks. This one's too jittery, this one's too jumpy...but this one's juuuuuusssst right...0 -
Theta an elderly man and an elderly woman who come in (separately) and walk on the treadmill. They walk gayer than half the younger people on the treadmills! And one girl I see on the treadmills every day. She has an incredibly muscular back, and perfect form when she runs.0

Yes, I am inspired by everyone who comes to workout with me everyday. I beat the crap out of them with exercises that they swear come directly from hell. I have actually been called Satans Spawn.. But yet they always come back; and that inspires me.0

I am not being conceded at all when I say this but "Me" and I say that because everyone seen me the day I crawled through the front doors at 560 lbs. barely able to stand, they seen me spend 17 months in the pool using water displacement to allow me to stand long enough to exercise and loosing 170 lbs. and working my way to the shallow end of the pool to take on more of my own weight, they seen me get fitted for knee braces so I could start walking on the indoor track with nordic walking poles, they seen me graduate from the track to the treadmill and elliptical, and eventually into the weight room... So every time I walk in the door I feel an innate need to do my best to lead by example, which is exactly what I do each and every time... Everyone has to make the decision on the own to better themselves but being known and hearing the whispers ("There's that guy that has lost over 300 lbs.") I take great pride leading the way and letting people know if you want it bad enough and are willing to put in the hard work then you can achieve anything you set in front of you..... Best of Luck0

For the most part.....the people who inspire me at the gym are the ones who show up and do the work! ALot of times it is the ones who are heavy or just started out because i know how that feels to be them and want to be better.0

Ed you already know this, but you were one of my strongest inspirations when I started here. I think you and your story are nothing short of amazing, and you SHOULD be proud of what you've done and continue to do. Mad respect for you...0 -

Thank you...... :flowerforyou: You have done a fabulous job too!!!0 -
There are several older ( like retirement age) women who come into the gym and lift. One lady does stuff on the treadmill that I don't dare do ( jog backwards, sideways, etc).
It sounds silly, but the staff at the gym push me. The trainer who worked there when I first started coming in was encouraging from about the 3rd month. There were times that he had more faith in my abilities than I did! There was NO way I could let him down. The current trainer is a pain in my behind, but he knows how to push my buttons and get me to do things I would never try.0 -
Yes my trainer. He inspires me. My friend. Snap Fitness0
