keeping up with the music I have blasting in my ears
the feeling of working my body to its max
sweat pouring down my face (weird I know)
the feeling afterwards when you think 'I did it again today and I will again tomorrow"0 -
The woods
The scenery no matter how many times I run the same trail
The people who think I am crazy
The look on my dogs face
The dirt on my legs when I am done
Knowing I can do it again tomorrow...or whenever I feel.0 -
I just love this post! Loved all the responses and agree with so many of them! For me I love:
- getting through mile 1, and actually enjoying the next 2
- looking down and seeing my nice quad muscles (because I haven't always had them)
- the wildlife I see (3 deer and a rabbit last week, and 4 turtles this month)
- that my 7 yo son asks me everyday when "we" are going running (he rides his bike)
- beating my time from the previous runs... baby steps, but even 5 seconds faster makes me so happy!
- the quiet... the me time.. and the time with my kids when they go with me0 -
...that its a no excuses workout...anytime, anywhere, just me (maybe my dog) and the ground.
...running 5 minutes straight and not dying when I could only make it 2 minutes tops just a couple weeks ago.
...that my jog/walk is happening by my choice even though I used to think it was punishment in high school.
...that feeling of power and pride when I finish.
...to imagine the day I'll be able to finish and still walk after my first 5k
*I've only been "wogging" lol for about a month now. But I'm loving it!0 -
- being by myself
- the high you get when running
- listening to great music
- the feeling when you’re enjoying an easy run, and you look at your watch and your pace is great!!!
- the good feeling you get after your run...0 -
I love kicking it in the last mile of a long run. My last half marathon was at a 9:00 per mile pace. At the 12 mile mark, I pushed it to 8:30. With a half mile to go, I was at 8:00. I kept accelerating as I got closer to finish line, and was moving at a 4:59 clip when I finished.0

Talking to myself for X number of miles, I can work out everything in my head
running on a trail next to my dog who is just the happiest freaking thing in the world to be outside running
the thought of my body getting healthier and stronger
going farther and faster over time0 -
I started quoting responses I loved, and I realized I love them all (except the rude one).
Just finished a beach run, and I loooooooooove coming to the end of my run when I am hot, my hair is wet & curly from sweat, and I just flop into the water and let a wave break on my backside. Sheer Heaven.
Jealous you have a beach to run on! That sounds amazing! (i live in central illinois)0 -
Great topic!
- My music
-Turning my brain off
-My leg muscles, who knew they were there under that fat
-The fact that I just ran 4 miles straight with my brother at a decent pace
-Wildlife
-Sweating so much I'm constantly looking at ways to keep sweat out of my eyes and buying every kind of head gear I can think of
-That I have more running clothes and shoes than work ones
-A good sports bra is worth it's weight in gold
-That feeling when everything is right with the world
-Feeling all that stress rolling off me with every step0 -
I was actually thinking of these very things on my run the other day!
I LOVE running in the rain, and i agree with a lot of the things others have posted, but one that is different for me that I love...
the smell of people's clean laundry as I run through a neighborhood.0 -

Running through a neighborhood on a Sunday morning >>>> the smell of bacon cooking.0 -
Forgetting about everything except what I'm feeling right that second.0

You all inspired me today - ran longer than I had originally planned!
In the moment, I love feeling peaceful
clearing my head
working out the day's tension
seeing my shadow with my newly formed calf muscles
feeling how hard my quads are
smelling all the smells weather it be pine, lilac or farm
feeling the breeze, the sun or the rain
feeling the sweat, seeing my heart beats per minute on my HRM, knowing that it's doing good things for my body
hearing the birds or the wind in the pines
my icy cold glass of chocolate soy milk that I have when I get back
getting to explore different cities or towns when I'm traveling in a way that I never would otherwise
In the periphery, no more insomnia
keeps my anxiety in check
keeps my digestive track moving
having a blood pressure reading of 84/66 at the doctor
feeling relaxed and calm throughout the day on running days
the awesome chats you have with complete strangers at races0 -
All of these, so true!
One year now into running and I'm still amazed at how amazing I find it. I was just saying today to a (somewhat perplexed) co-worker that when I run I notice the sky in a way I haven't before.
And yeah, the sweat. For a middle age, never athletic, office worker, earning that sweat is great0 -
When I run I love a lot of things like........
Beating my personal best time
When I am real sweaty and a little rain starts to fall
At the end of my run where I think I just cannot take it anymore and that one song that gets you going comes on the shuffle
The bowl of oatmeal that awaits the completion of my run
The feeling of accomplishment that sets you aside from the masses because you are choosing to be different0 -
I love the fact that I start out thinking "why am I doing this? It's really hard. I don't think I can do it." but then at some point I start thinking "this is hard, but look at you, you're doing it! You're awesome!!" The feeling of accomplishing a run is really just the best feeling.0

I love how I feel when I finish, delirious, exhausted, proud, and happy. There is nothing like the feeling of spent exertion.
I run through my neighborhood at night, and it feels like a secret wonderland. The houses are dark, the sky is purple, and the world is silent but for the tread of my feet. I love feeling like I'm as strong as I am in my dreams. The feeling of being indomitable, it's irreplaceable.0 -
It's mexican for me or pizza0
-
I love that it's the only time my brain shuts up.
definitely this!0 -
Feeling and the smell if fresh air passing me...
Sun on my face,
pacing to my favorite music,
Just when you think you cannot run another step... You push through and find that inner strength,
I enjoy the time alone to not worry about anything
That high of being sweaty, tired, and jumping in for a swim on a hot day
Or the feeling of a long hot shower on a cool day....0 -
Listening to heavy ****ing metal...0
-
I love heading out really early...hearing nothing but the birds chirp and feeling like a badass in my own head while everyone is still sleeping
I love how running has changed my body and I can challenge myself to be better
I love the fact that last year I would have laughed at anyone telling me I would have dont two 10k runs this year - and both completed in under 65 minutes!
I know I love running based on how upset I was I picked up an injury and had to rest for six weeks0 -
running with my running community.
the moment your breathing settles down.
the constant battle between quitting and carrying on.
feeling the sweat drip down my face.0 -
...listening to audiobooks - sometimes I keep running because I want to know what happens next in the story! Mo Farah's autobiography was very inspiring to listen to as well.
The downside...running past someone much younger than me in an electric wheelchair on Sunday morning. I felt like I was really rubbing her nose in it as I ran past her.0 -
the constant battle between quitting and carrying on.
Oh I soooo understand this. Some days its like opposing forces arguing in my head....0 -
I love how I always seem to get back to my driveway at a good part of my book so I just have to keep going some more.
I also love hearing that little notification in my ear giving me my mileage and pace, makes me push a bit harder or ease up a bit if I met my goal for the day.0 -
When I run past a shop window and look at my reflection, and I think "I am REALLY running!" The girl who, a year and a half ago couldn't tie her shoes, is running for miles and miles and loving every minute of it.0

Singing and dancing like an utter loon whilst cars pass by thinking 'what the hell'.
Switching off
The added calories which enable me to have a gurt lush pizza, it's all about the carbs0 -
