An aggressive rate of loss is 2lbs per week and this is only really feasible if you have a lot to lose. 2 stone (28lbs) is not very feasible in 2 months. Spot reducing fat unfortunately is also not possible. No matter what though, if you start today...you will be a lot happier when your trip does happen.

Here is some info to help get started...

    *Log EVERYTHING

    *Weigh Solids

    *Measure liquids

    *Exercise for fitness
    (weight lifting is my recommendation)

    *Be Honest with Yourself

*Measure yourself, take silly pictures and then enjoy your progress.

    And............

If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 15 -25 lbs to lose 0.5 to 1.0 lbs/week is ideal
If you have less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs/week is ideal

That is a LOT of weight for two weeks, especially since you're at a healthy or near healthy weight now!

At 168 pounds you will probably not be able to lose more than about 1 pound per week.

Don't be discouraged though; have to start somewhere and better now than never :).

2 stones in two months is going to be hard to do. You can start now and see what happens, but you really don't want to push yourself too hard. It would be enough time to see some changes in your body even if you can't reach your full goal, though.

I'll let you in on the big secret: Eat at a deficit. Weigh your foods so you are really sure that you are eating at a deficit. But do not starve yourself.
Spot reduction is a myth. Fat will leave from where it wants to, and nothing you or I can do will change that short of surgery.

    Cut off your leg.

    Doesn't that sound crazy?

So is wanting to lose weight that fast for really no reason. You didn't gain it in 2 weeks, so why the hurry to get it off?

theres always gonna be a guy that will sleep with you and theres always gonna be a bunch of girls who you think look better than you... same goes for dude except for the getting laid part.

if you wanna lose some weight be smart about it. Nobody gives a damn if you look a bit thinner for 2 weeks. They will notice when you balloon back up and are bigger than before.

Or carry on and waste 2 months starving yourself to lay on a beach for a week. Then you can gain teh wait back in half the time, plus some, and feel like crap. Then you can have a psychological meltdown and go into a spiral of binge purge cycles.. cuz thats what girls do

    cheers

It's unlikely that at your current weight you will lose 2 stone in 2 months. It's a very aggressive, and might be a too aggressive goal.

Follow MFP - use the tips above about weighing all your food, and logging your exercise (I also think MFP overstates the calories burned, so you might want to take that in consideration when eating back exercise calories). 1lb-0.5lb a week is likely a more realistic goal.

Think of it this way - you didn't gain 2 stone in 2 months, so you can't lose it in 2 months either. The links above that someone has already listed are really good resources.

    ...to accomplish what, exactly?
To firm up the underlying muscle, which will give a better foundation, and once the fat starts to disappear (from long-term moderate cardio exercise which burns fat) the muscles will show & the area will look better.

Do what you'd normally do to lose weight:
eat the calories to support your healthy goal weight *
moderate exercise as you're able (30 minutes of moderately breathless walking 5 days per week)
weightlifting as you're able (see above reasoning, also because muscle burns more calories than fat, even at rest)

A healthy & sustainable weight loss goal is no more than 2 lb per week, so in 2 months you can reasonably expect to lose no more than 16 lb.

    * See my blog post about setting goals. The first URL is a BMI chart. Find the highest weight in the green range for your height & make that your starting goal. Multiply that by 10 to get your calorie goal. When you get to that weight, see how you feel & if you want to stay there or lose a little more.

To convert stones to pounds so you can use that BMI chart:
    https://www.google.com/#q=conversion+calculator+stone+to+pounds

And here's one for cm to inches:
    https://www.google.com/#q=conversion+calculator+cm+to+inches
(Then remember that there are 12 inches in 1 foot.)

I was asking for clarification on what the poster I was responding to thought it would accomplish, because I have a nagging suspicion that it was an endorsement for targeted fat loss. It wasn't a general question on benefits of isolated exercise. But thanks anyway.
