when I want to overeat especially socializing or at night I try to talk myself out of it. What do you say to yourself? Here are some of mine. 1. you need to take care of yourself.
2. move away from the food, find something else to do.
3. you can eat again tomorrow.
4. you want to fit into your shorts.
5. you can get thru this without food
6.. I am learning to say No
7. this is just temporary happiness, not worth the consequences.
8 . you will lose respect for yourself and let others disrespect you.

Honestly I think I say most of those things to myself....but I still lose the debate. Appetite always prevails assuming the food is immediately accessible to me.

Now if it was a debate about going somewhere like a Chinese buffet or something highly caloric...I can usually talk myself out of it.

I try to avoid situations where it is immediately available.
