What would you think of this??

obviously he doesn't even know you guys are together.
you need to up your game so he knows for sure.
cater to his every need. sandwiches, cleaning, a beej every morning....
sooner or later he'll get comfortable enough with you around that he'll leave his FB logged in.
then you can go in and change it yourself.
oh rus, you gentleman.
now stop making me blush and come get your sandwich and beej.
But I don't like making sandwiches and I'm no good at it!
then you are not worthy of a relationship.
change your status to "it's complicated" (just like how you view making sandwiches).
enroll yourself in some culinary classes and get on the road to being a decent woman already.
he's not going to wait forever for you to learn how to properly stack meats and cheeses.
go now!0 -
I say you say you're im a relationship with someone else...that would teach him!0

why is your status public in the first place?
I never changed mine because mine's not public and I can't be bothered- I'd probably have declined/ignored the status update as well if I were him. It's such a trivial matter. move on and live in the actual present- and stop trying to live your life on facebook.
This is how I am, too. My bf and I have been together a while and I don't think either of us cares enough to figure out how to change it. Why's it matter? Are you insecure about your relationship and you need to prove to everyone you're together? It's just facebook...
JUST FACEBOOK?!?!?!? How can you treat this so trivially. Just this morning on fb, I learned that I am a 17 year old, and that the reason we get such bad service in restaurants is that people have cell phones, and facebook and such. That's a huge force against humanity.0 -

Thats why he didnt change it. Have you tried getting a part time job at Jimmy Johns?0 -
Why not ask your husband how he feels about this?0

OMG! Stop being so worried about "claiming" him!! If he's comfortable changing it, he'll change it!! Just be grateful you have a boyfriend!!! It's not your place to make him do anything!0

Yes! Am I not worthy and deserving of "going public?" What is he trying to hide??0 -

wait, so you guys have broken up and gotten back together several times in 9 months?
I'd be leery of changing my FB status back to "in a relationship" too.
You two sound like basket cases who deserve each other....
No, we've been together the whole time, but denies the request or something, so I just keep re-sending.
Stop doing that. It just screams "hey, I'm desperate for you to acknowledge me to the world!"0 -

The fact that you worry he's hiding something indicates there's an issue, and it's with you.
Be an adult and talk to him about it. Tell him it bothers you that he won't accept, and go on from there. COMMUNICATION is the key to relationships.0 -

You must be. EVERYONE I know is on FB and nobody will know we're together if the status isn't there.0 -
He won't change it? I'd be suspicious of that. Have you checked his friends list to see if there any women in there that look like they could be a threat to the relationship? Anyone who posts on his wall a lot or comments on his pictures? Even if she just "likes" all of his statuses....I would start there. It takes just as much work to deny as it does to accept the request. I would say the behavior is suspect and you should investigate further.
I'm sorry you're going through that. :flowerforyou:0 -
Find the photoshop program that will create pictures of your future children, and post them on his page. He'll get the message.0

I personally don't like my personal business all over Facebook, and maybe he doesn't either. I use it to keep in touch with old friends and family that are far away. I don't list my relationship status at all, because imo it's no one's business but mine. The people who matter usually already know, FB doesn't need to advertise it for me too.
I think your best course of action, instead of spamming him with request to change his relationship status, is to ask him why. If for some reason that is important to you, sit down and have an actual dialogue about why he seems opposed to it.0 -
Why not just remove the relationship status entirely? It's only bad on his part if his publicly says "single" (assuming you've mutually decided to be exclusive). If it says nothing at all, there's no problem!
How often does he use facebook?
Personal anecdote: I was once dating a guy for 5 months. He said to me that he "wasn't quite ready to call me his girlfriend because I don't like labels". I asked him once if he was seeing other people and he freaked out at me "How could you ever think that!?" And then less than 7 days after I dumped him he was "facebook official" with a different girl. HMMMMMMM.0 -
He'll change it when he's ready, OP.0 -
Reconsider whether you really want to let FB run your life.0

My ex was similar(his relationship status was set to private). He did however show me a pic of it one day because I didn't believe he'd changed it. We had a lot of breakups and getting back together so after a while I didn't really care what his or my relationship status said. Also there is another reason I stopped showing my relationship status but that's for another post.0
-
My take? He is still playing the field and not interested in commitment. I only say that because that is how I thought when I was in my 20s. Took me a while to grow up and recognize the joys of maturing and committing to a relationship. Now I just flirt on MFP.
I second that0 -

This is awkward.
Sorry about that.
If it makes you feel better, he cheated on me so I put an entire can of EZ-Cheez in his hair while he was sleeping.0
