Is it true that eating before bed causes weight gain even if you're under your calories goal at the end of the day?

I always eat before bed. The only times I ever had problems was when it was Icecream, or dessert.0

If it is something small and light, I don't think it is a problem. I've had a lot of people tell me it's really bad for you. Others said it doesn't really matter. Sometimes I don't think anyone knows for sure lol. So if I do crave something before bed I try to keep it simple.0

I was always told to eat something with Cassein protein in it. It is supposed to be slower to digest to help your body repair your muscle when you sleep. Cottage cheese is supposed to have Cassein protein in it.0

The only reason it's bad for you .....instead of your body burning what you have previously eaten, it will instead try to burn what you just ate.0

It's actually a myth that eating right before bed makes you fat. I wish I had some links to post, but I don't...hopefully someone else more prepared this morning will. :flowerforyou:0

My boyfriend (an MD) and I just had a big debate about this. He argues that total calories are total calories. I argued, using what i had heard from different sources, that your body burns calories at different rates during the day....for instance I've heard it's best to eat your largest meal at breakfast and taper off during the day. But in contrast to that , I find it impossible to eat humongous breakfasts..that's just a personal preference. Anyhow, to support both of our arguments, here are some articles I found that I sent him...so it seems like the jury is still out.
