just had a call from my mum .. She's had just read that I achieved 6.8 miles last night .. On Facebook ..
Why have I started running? There's nothing on you ... Errrr yes mother...
Why do people assume that everyone should be fat ? It irritates me that people say such crazy *kitten* things.. Even though she's my mother I told her where to go..lol

No well done.. You're doing well.. You have achieved something .. Pisses me off
Anyone else get that from friends n family?

Run for you. No one else is going to give you what you need/ want/ expect in terms of appreciation or support. You run for you, and only you.

ya almost everyone i know is like this towards me. I was once 320 pounds so they think i'm skinny now. I'm not skinny, I'm lean! I have muscle for god sakes! But they get all uppity when I am eating right and exercising like I don't need to do it, i'm too skinny blah blah blah. Um I have to eat right and exercise or I will be my 320 pound self again...people just don't get it...

I'm doing it for myself and to get fit etc.. I don't expect a well done but really don't expect the comments against losing weight and getting fit.. It just seems crazy to me that it's frowned upon almost ..
They don't realise it's not a diet or a get fit quick thing..it's a lifestyle change for the better :)

Works both ways you know. It's called love, us mothers worry about our offspring no matter what their ages are. Our offspring can worry about us too. "Aren't you a little o-o-l-d to be doing that" etc. I must say mine are quite supportive at the moment. Til I break a hip, god forbid, that is, Anyway, from this elderly mother, - very well done, and I totally get it. Feels good doesn't it.
  • I just educate my mother and tell her the benefits of the lifestyle...

Lifes like that. I have come across people who come out with some unenlightened views, they just require educating imo.

My mom and daughter give me a hard time about every thing I do. They both feel my lifestyle inconveniences them. I guess it must but I haven't figured out how. I exercise much less often than I would if they supported me.

Just a side note, don't ever give up. All of my friends are now using walkers and sticks, or in old folks homes, or worse, pushing up daisies. They often thought me the odd one. Anyway, it was getting pretty lonely so ---- I joined MFP and I love it. I was born in Yorkshire too, happy Yorkshire day last Friday!
