Keeping fit when going TRAVELLING (long-term)

Hi,
I'm about to go travel through Europe kinda indefinitely (I work from home!) My accommodation will be a mixture of the caravan I've got (veeeeeery small), other people's houses, shared hostel rooms, individual hostel/hotel rooms (rarely) and workaway houses.
I like going jogging which will obviously be fine when I am away as you can do that anywhere! However my favourite things are Pilates and small weight exercises and like Jillian Michael's videos. I'll have all the equipment and my laptop with me to do these things, but where can I do it? What else would you recommend for strength and circuits on the road?
Has anyone else gotten fit when travelling?
Has anyone got over the weird stares from doing it outside? It will be too cold when I leave but next summer I could definitely do some outside if I'm not too embarrassed...

Depends where you are, honestly. Italians aren'texactly known for running, but in England or Germany, you will see way more people out running- when I lived in Rome I would get such weird stares when running!
You probably will walk a lot more in general. I'd say you could do things like the 7 minute workout (rounds of circuit training with minimal gear) and programs on your ipaad or something if you want0 -
In UK you'll see a lot of outdoor bodyweight and boot camp style classes. Its not unusual to see solos or small groups doing either.0

I find that apps are helpful, like Sworkit or Hot 5. Good bodyweight exercises that you can throw in with your running wherever. Also, Ballet Beautiful doesn't need weights and can fulfill your pilates-type needs. Just throw the videos on your ipad/laptop/even phone and just do it wherever. you have enough room to throw a towel on the ground.
Have fun! Jealous!0 -
I'm from the UK so I won't be running or doing bootcamp classes there! Unfortunately I don't think a class in another country is the way to go, just because I won't understand what they're telling me.
I am just wondering about doing pilates-style and the things you recommended outside in campsites or even just in the park, particularly in winter...
Does anyone know any European gym day pass websites?!0 -
Try to do more static exercises that do not require much room? Something like 4 sets of 20 of each pushups, situps, burpees whatever you can think of. Write out a schedule so you don't overwork one set of muscles.
Hostels might have a common room or some other type of space which might be empty if you wake up early enough.
I know my city has 'exercise parks'. One has exercise machines, one just has several stops marked where you can jump over logs and stuff.
Big headphones and some good music, and just ignore other people :-)0
