I've been going to Orange Theory Fitness for the past three months and LOVE IT! I have a few other MFP friends out there doing it to and wondered if there are more of us.
If you don't know what it is, I highly recommend looking into it to see if there is one near you. Give them a try! It's a 60 minute HIIT class that utilizes cardio (mostly on the treadmill), rowing machines and weight training based on your individual heart rate.

Hi there! I've been a member of OTF for about 1 1/2 years. Increased attendance a month ago to M-F 5-days a week. If there are any OTF people out there that would like to be support buddies, please friend me!0 -
I love OTF! I've been a member since January and I go 3-4x a week. My cardio and strength have improved so much since starting, and I love the changes I see in my body.0

I love OTF too, but I have GAINED weight!!! I have been doing it since May 2014. I average 4x/week, and typically don't do much working out on my days off because I NEED the rest! I sometimes do consecutive days, but it's really hard and I feel unproductive. I am continuing to eat like I did before OTF workouts, which is around 1200-1300 calories/day of VERY healthy food (gluten-free, raw foods, lean proteins, lots of nuts and yogurt). Before OTF, I was doing hour-long cardio workouts on the elliptical/treadmill 5/6 days a week. I wasn't burning near the amount of calories that I do with OTF. In comparison, I would burn around 300 calories...so for the week I would burn around 1500-1800. With OTF, I burn an average of 500 each time, which with four classes would be 2000. Sooooo....how am I GAINING??? Help PLEASE!?!?!?!?!?0

They're popping up all over my town and I've heard good things so I looked into it. I don't like how they compare the price to personal training ("only around $10/class vs. $50 for a trainer") and how they exaggerate the calorie burn effect of EPOC. I'd totally try it if they toned down the marketing claims and priced it more reasonably, though.0

HIIT and strength training works. Nothing new there but then the site says burn cals for 36 hours after a workout and lose up to 8 lbs a week.

Maybe you are getting too much fat from nuts, which is contributing to your weight gain? While nuts have healthy fats, they are still fats, so a little goes a long way.
Also, keep in mind that weight isn't everything. You are doing OTF often, so you are building muscle. Have you lost inches at all?0 -
Hi Sherry - As of 55-days ago, I have upped my OTF game to 5-days week after not seeing the scale move. I believe that water retention do to muscle gain and repair has prevented any shedding. Therefore, I have made the following nutrition adjustments:
- Increased Calories 1500
- Adjusted macros to: 25c 30f 45p (this worked)
- Reduced sodium to 1200 mg (this worked - helped to shed water weight)
** after the two adjustments above, I lost 4 lbs - then stalled out
- Next: did a 100 carb 1x refeed on Sunday (only carbs, not all macros) to boost my metabolism (this worked)
** Lost another 4 lbs - If I stall out again, I'm going to try the refeed carb adjustment
Quite frankly, I'm not sure if this will work for everyone, but it has helped me do to the amount of gym.0 -
Hi All:
I am loving OTF!
One month in, and I feel great! I have not weighted myself (try not too at least every 3 months) and I notice a huge change in energy. Is it true the calories burned are not accurate??
Anyway, really happy to be a part of something that helps me burn sooo much calories. I mean, if Im going to be in a gym for an hr I want to get the most out of my workout.

You are proble gaining muscle and burning fat. Not a bad thing!!!0

I have had great results from OTF as well. In the 7 months I've been going, I've lost 5 pounds (of fat - body fat went down 3-4%) without changing anything in my diet, and my body looks so much tighter and just better all over! I didn't lose it at the beginning though - it took time. I usually burn 400-500 calories a class.
I'm going 5x a week as well. My running has improved so much. Base pace went from 4.7 to 5.5 mph, push from 6 - 7.3 mph and all out from 8 - 9 mph. I'm happy with the results so far and I just love going which is always a good thing.0 -
Yep OTF rocks. They just opened in Austin in December. I'm doing 5-7 times a week. Lost 15lbs.0

One just opened up near me and they had a preview that I missed to go see what it was about. Aunt I have in florida goes to one and she keeps raving about it! I am itching to go see and try it out.
Is it anything like Barry Bootcamp?0
