Newbie question

Hello! I'm Zelo. I just joined here, and I have a question.
For this website, is it vital to keep track of food+exercise? Or is it there if you just want to?
Thanks.

It's up to you. You can add me if you are looking for friends!
  • I've just restarted using this site. I do keep track of my food and exercises.
I'm not sure about going by the calories, this site tells me I need 1200 but I find that I am just so exhausted all the time if I only eat that. So I upped the calories to 1350. But I do track all the food I take in, that way I can see what has high protein versus what has high sugar and fat.

I believe it is important for your weight loss journey.....really makes you understand what you are putting in your mouth...will help you to be accountable.....try it....you will know what I mean....food and exercise......

The reason that I ask is that I'm already counting what I eat and my exercise on a different app- so it's a bit of a bother to transfer stuff ahah.

Depends on what you are trying to accomplish...if you are trying to lose weight it's vital to keep track of everything you eat including sauces, dips, dressings, etc...Also, it is necessary to track your exercise because it adjusts your caloric needs for the day based on calories burned.
1200 calories a day is dangerously low...it will be very difficult to get the proper nutrients to stay healthy. Adjust the number of pounds per week you want to lose to (1) pound, this will allow your body to acclimate to your new dietary restrictions. The exhaustion you are feeling is probably due to low glycogen levels and iron deficiencies. Eating only 1200 calories a day will slow your metabolism and send it into a high catabolic state and your body will literally begin using muscle, it eats away at itself in an attempt to find a source of stored energy. Also, your metabolic rate will slow thus creating weight GAIN rather than loss.
