Recovery food question

I'm sore for long periods of time after workouts, but I'm also having some issues with my knees shaking while I'm doing circuit training, so I'm thinking I'm missing out on some nutrition. I'm getting plenty of water and rest, and I usually eat a 20g protein bar after a workout. What else would help me recover more quickly?

Could you explain a little more about the knees shaking?

Protein often helps recovery for some (although I do not really find a difference).

If you are sweating a lot, you may have electrolyte imbalance - so you could try something like pedialyte.

    Do you workout fasted?

Also, how often do you do the training and how long are you sore for?

    Sorry for the delayed response.

When I'm holding a squat, or like a sit position, my knees start shaking. They don't hurt then really.

    Do I workout fasted?
Not really. I usually have eaten one or two meals and had a good bit of water hours before exercising. I need to eat before exercising or I don't have the energy to do it.

Also, how often do you do the training and how long are you sore for?
I usually only exercise 90 minutes. Depending on the exercise, I'm sore sometimes for 2 days after. I can still feel it on the 3rd day but it's not really painful.

How long have you been working out? When I first started, and I wasn't particularly out of shape - just not particularly IN shape either, I would shake badly doing postures and would be sore for 2-3 days in. After about 2 months of steady workouts, this more or less went away.
