A successful failure?

Ugh! This stressful week showed on the scale! This past week, I moved from Vermont to Maryland with my soon-to-be fiance. Although I counted my calories very accurately for five of the past seven days, did all my regular exercise, plus the extra exercise moving provides, I did eat very badly two of the nights for dinner. More pizza then I should have on Tuesday night and enough Chinese for two people Wednesday night. And it shows. I regained 1.2 lbs.

Yet, as disgusted as I am with myself, I'm still somewhat proud. Before I started this new lifestyle, the stress of moving would have sent me into a tailspin. I would have been shoving horrible food into my mouth constantly for most of the week. And I might not have recovered from it, I might have given up on my healthy lifestyle altogether. This week I only had two bad meals. I overcame the powerful urge I had to binge eat. And I know I can take that 1.2 lbs right back off because now I am right back on track. I suppose this means that I actually have started to make a real change, and that in itself is a success :)

Having the mindset you have is a success in itself! Considering how stressful moving is, I think you did great. Good job :flowerforyou:

Haha, we've been discussing marriage for awhile now (been together 2.5 years, living together for a year) and I learned from a big-mouthed friend that he bought an engagement ring a little while ago. I'm pretending I don't suspect a thing ;)

rravel always shows up on the scale… i bet once you're settled in you see a big drop. You didn't gain any weight.

Probably some of that is water weight from the high sodium choices. Congrats on getting right back on your plan. It us so hard to let go for a temporary event and then snap out if it so quickly!

Welcome to Maryland! I'm in north Baltimore County. Where are you?

I totally understand the possibility of binging as a result of excess stress. The fact that you didn't binge AND you acknowledge and recognize you could have, is a major step forward!

I agree it's likely fluid from the Chinese food salt and not fat. It will disappear in no time at all!

I'm hoping everyone is right and it is just because of the sodium. I'm in Elkton now, Cecil County.

Great job seeing the positive and not dwelling on the negative. Good luck!
