need help on the Net Calories

i am having an issue understanding how to "use" the net calories numbers.
as i understand it, take in fewer calories than you burn...but the chart showing that as "under" is confusing me if i am doing something wrong?
trying to stay under the daily goal, and burn more than take in... but confused.
Help!

Calorie intake goal - food eaten + exercise = net calories

Your net calories should fall within the range of your food calorie goal. Basically, when you burn energy through exercise, you need to make that amount up - you're body will need more protein, carbs, etc. this is important because your metabolism will slow down and body will store fat if you don't get enough calories per day. Therefore when you do exercise it let's you eat more calories per day because you've burned them off.use the net calorie to track for the day as opposed to only the food.

Maybe, until you are more familiar with MFP format, you should only enter the food you have consumed until the end of the day. Once you have all of your foods entered & met your calorie allotment you can then enter any exercise. That will give you a really good idea of how many calories you can "eat back". Just for a few days to establish patterns & assess your exercise caloric burns.
