Humm... I wish I knew how to pull off homemade nutella! However! I do really like Justin's chocolate Hazelnut butter. WAY less sugar and fewer ingredients overall and actually tastes better. Plus it comes in little single serve pouches, built in portion control!

For Nutella, there IS no substitute. I'll spend the money.

I know someone that makes it homemade. Sans all the horrible ingredients.

I had no idea. Thank you. Nutella is one of the few items that I'm truly sad I can't eat because of my dairy allergies -- especially since my husband and son love it, too, and do you know how hard it is to make someone else Nutella on toast and NOT lick the knife afterward?

I've also had good success with the recipe from Chocolate Covered Katie. You have to store it in the refrigerator. It tastes great and you can adjust the sweetness to your own preference.

because nutella would be awesomely low carb if only there was no added sugar. how to solve problem? make it yourself with no added sugar/ use artificial sweeteners instead.

Wife and I are currently trying some things out witht he Vitamix we purchase recently.

She has made a non-dairy cream subsitute from hazel nuts. It turn out very nice. But, we were left with a large amount of residue form the nuts. We are going to take and an attempt to make a chocoate hazelnut spread. Our expectation are that it will nut be able to compete with nutella but will still be nice.
