Do you work through muscle pain?

I'm on my second day and my stomach and legs are really sore. What do you do when you come to this point? I have been doing Pilates and working on the elliptical.

I never do legs 2 day in a row and the day of rest between I move to get or keep loose as needed occasionally. If its tight work through it but pain sorry take time off back it down. Watch hydration level too.

I like to soak in a warm bath with Epsom salts and a little lavender essential oil. The magnesium in the Epsom salts is absorbed through your skin and helps with aches and soreness. Heavenly.

In quite simple terms, congratulations on the first steps in your journey.
That will go away as your conditioning improves. The usual- no pain no gain. Stay with it, the best move you have made this year.

Depends on how sore I am. I have found that the more I move, the less sore I feel. Getting the blood pumping to sore muscles makes them feel better. It is after being still that I feel the most sore. The soreness does go away.

I lift M-W-F. Depends on the soreness. I rarely ever get sore anymore. I have more like a dull ache. Stretching usually works it out. But it depends on the level of soreness. A couple times I took a pulled muscle as being sore till I tried to push it and just felt a weird twinge and backed off right away. If you are too sore maybe back off a little. Eventually it will get easier.

A general guideline to deciding whether or not to work out a sore muscle is pretty simple: If it is sore to the touch (it hurts when you poke your finger gently into the meat of the muscle), then choose a different muscle group to work out as there is significant muscle repair that still needs to be done on that one.

Otherwise, it is safe to work it out though you may have to work out with lower weights/less intensity than you would if you had no soreness whatsoever.

Yup. Me too. DOMS is something I always work through. Stretching feels really good & as another poster suggested, the epsom salt bath & scented bath is a good idea too. :drinker:
