Anyone ever prepped bacon ahead of time? How did you store it and how long did it last? I was thinking of doing a blt lettuce wrap but wasn't sure how the bacon would hold up.

I have cooked bacon in advance and wrapped in foil it can last at least 5 days, you can just zap it in the microwave for 10 to 15 seconds on a paper towel or not and it is as good as fresh cooked.

It may last longer but not with me around

it holds for a few days if you can keep out of it. Problem is once I cook it and know its in the fridge I keep making excuses to eat it.

It keeps really well. I put it in ziplock bags with a generous amount to paper toweling. The dry towels help maintain the crispiness as it soaks in any excess moisture.

I know someone who makes enough bacon to last for months and freezes it. To do this, freeze bacon spaced out on a baking sheet so it freezes in individual slices and not in a big lump. Once frozen, place it in freezer bags. When she wants bacon, she just takes it out, places it on a paper towel and zaps it in the microwave.

I cook a whole package of center cut bacon (crispy in a skillet) and put two slices each in snack baggies and stack them all up in the fridge. Then I take a baggie to school every day, heat it in the microwave for 30 seconds to have next to my cinnamon baked apple topped with granola. My colleagues look at my breakfast with great interest.

I buy the precooked boxes of it at a Trader Joes. I take the lazy route since I'm remodeling and dont have a kitchen right now.. It lasts for weeks.

I prebake my bacon all the time. I just did 4 pounds this morning. Bake it on a sheet in the oven, but bake it so it not crispy, rather just to the point where it is cooked and you could eat it, but it's still a little soggy. Drain out the oil, and pat dry. Then I put it on the cookie sheets in a single layer, and freeze. I out it in a ziplock after.

On weekdays, we just take out what we want and throw it in a pan, you could microwave it, but usually want to crisp.

    It saves for months.
