After realising I had over 3 bottles of wine over the weekend and that is a regular occurence, I have set myself a challenge for no booze for two full weeks including two full weekends. Who wants to join me and keep each other motivated?

This challenge has come at the perfect time for me
I just woke up after drinking almost a bottle of prosecco myself last night and thought I really don't like how alcohol makes my body feel!
Would love to give up alcohol permanently but not sure I can,
It's such a waste of calories too!
When shall we start the challenge?

I'm down with the challenge. I haven't had a drink since July 29th. I don't know how long this will go on, but hopefully I can keep it up until I see some real progress in my weight loss. But for now, I'll commit to 2 more weeks!

I'm down... though Saturday will be a wash for me- already have tickets to a wine event. In any case, participating in the challenge may help me to be a little more mindful ;)

I'm in....it may motivate me not to drink at the cookout I'm going to this weekend (always a challenge).

I agree the less alcohol, the better I feel and the more solid I performance I see in my workouts and day to day activities.

    So,
    Last drink: Aug. 14th
    two weeks: Aug. 28th

Let's see how long we can keep it going! I have a wedding on September 14th, so I am sure I will drink then, but that would be a full month of no alcohol.

I would like to be in, but everyone I socialize with drinks almost every day! But here's my oath...I'm going to REALLY try for 2 weeks. I know the extra calories are truly holding my weight loss back!! How often should we report back?:drinker:

I can never give it up permanently but I am learning to drink in moderation.

I'll have a go, don't know if I can do two weeks though!.

    Normally have 2 pints a night so that's (400x14) 5600 kcal saved..

Sure I quit for 6 years once as a NY resolution gone mad. But I can't start until Saturday because I'm going to see Motely Crue on Friday night and I plan to drink.
  • I usually just count it as my "snack" and add a little more exercise. I don't drink nearly as much as I used too, at least I've cut back

I was getting ready to start my own thread about the challenge of drinking less wine but I saw this one so I thought that this would be a great place to start. I would love to be a part of this challenge. My problem is that I LOVE LOVE LOVE wine. It makes my food taste better. I don't drink it until I sit down for dinner. However, at that time, it is "on." I can't stop. I have like to eat chocolate with my husband after our dinner. We do this on the couch together. I guess that is sort of a comfortable habit (for lack of a better way to say it). I know that I can still sit with him after dinner but that is something that we really look forward to each day. We both end up drinking too much and I hate the regret the next day. I waste SO MANY calories. I also know that it is not doing my body any good. With all of that said, does anyone else feel the same way? Anyone else worried that this will be a hard challenge?

Agree. It does become a comfortable habit. That is the best way to describe it. My comfortable habit is going to dinner with my husband, relaxing, talking , eating and having a glass of wine. Only for me one glass turns into 4!!!! Not good.

I just recently quit. It was totally messing up my focus. I am down 50 pounds since I started no drinking on June 20th. It really has given me the ability to stay on my program. I don't find myself making a pound of pasta 1:30am covered in some sort of cheese. That is always helpful. :)

me too. Once a bottle is open it must be finished!

Onto Day 3 now, the weekend is going to be a challenge for me but thinking it is only for 2 weeks and if I do this every 6 months then that's a whole month per year.

I cut down quite a bit on drinks, but I don't see any reason to drop it completely. I can have a beer or two every day and fit it in my calories.
