Sore muscles

I've been incorporating some weight training into my workouts for the past couple months, for the past month that consists of 10-15 minutes of different machines three times a week after my cardio workout.
Yesterday was a rest day, but I ended up carrying this solid wood shelf unit about 15 minutes from the guy I bought it from to my apartment. Today, my arm muscles are sore and achey.
Two-part question:
1) Is the ache a good or bad thing? Should I be feeling it more, therefore should I be pushing myself harder in my weight training?
2) Should I skip the weight training today?
Thanks!

Ache is a good thing. *Pain* is a bad thing.
General rule of thumb: If you press your finger gently into the meat of the muscle and feel pain, then don't work out that muscle until it repairs. If it's just "achy," then it's completely fine to work it out.0 -
Thanks for your reply. I went for the workout anyway and honestly I kind of regret it as my arms really hurt now. Will probably hold off returning to weights until Sunday. Now I know!0
